Top-Seeded Ohio State Defeats No. 4 Illinois to Advance to Finals
Ohio State earned a 4-0 victory over Illinois on Saturday to earn a spot in the Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament championship. The top-seeded Buckeyes picked up the doubles point after wins at Nos. 1 and 3 and won three singles matches in straight sets to claim the victory. Matt Allare won at No. 4 while Blaz Rola won at No. 2 and Chase Buchanan clinched the match with a win at No. 1. . . .
Third-seeded Minnesota defeated No. 2 Indiana, 4-0, on Saturday to advance to the Big Ten Tournament championship match. Wins at Nos. 2 and 3 helped the Gophers claim the doubles point and singles wins at Nos. 1, 5 and 6 gave Minnesota the match. Brendan Ruddock earned the first singles win for Minnesota at No. 5 while Tobias Wernet followed at No. 1. Julian Dehn clinched the match at No. 6 to push the Gophers into the finals. Minnesota will take on top-seeded Ohio State at Noon CT on Sunday.
