Duke is the top-ranked team in the country, having lost only once this season.
The anticipation for the Ohio State men's lacrosse team is palpable. Fresh off a resounding victory over Cornell last week for the Buckeyes' first NCAA Tournament win in school history, they get a crack at the No. 1 team in the nation when they face Duke at noon today in Ithaca, N.Y.
Reaching the quarterfinals, getting a crack at the top-ranked team and being in the national spotlight again -- the game will be televised on ESPNU -- have the Buckeyes walking on air.
"It's probably the greatest thing that has happened in my college career," senior defenseman Ricky Pages said.
"Duke is way above us in reputation. Everyone across the nation knows Duke is really good. This is a great opportunity for us."
Duke is 17-1, its only blemish an 11-7 loss to Georgetown nearly two months ago.
"It's a huge statement (game) for us," Pages said. "We have nothing to lose and they have everything to lose."
Yes and no. It is true that for the Buckeyes, their season will be deemed a resounding success, regardless of what happens today.
