Ohio State Men's Lacrosse (2013 ECAC Champions)

Yep, it's like a defensive rotation in basketball - it's not happening quickly.

Bucks also aren't winning enough face offs. Cornell has had the ball far too much.

6-1...getting away from us.

Yea, 9-3 with 2 mins to play in the half. The lead isn't insurmountable, but it's not happening unless OSU wins faceoffs.

Sad to say, they are doing exactly the opposite of what I said they needed to do to get a W. Trey hasn't gotten it done at FOGO and second and third slides aren't getting there from the D.

They're really going to have to turn things around quick.

Rough last game for the Buckeyes. Still a great year, and it was fun to follow them!

Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but the game went almost as I expected. Trey is a good FOGO but not elite. And when you have a group of attack and middies like Cornhole, you need every face off to go your way. I have to finish watching the game but what I watched was brutal play from the long sticks and shorties on the defensive side of the field. About a step and a half late on way too much... and when Cornhole had their guys cutting across the middle there weren't enough friendly bumps along the way. Even at the U11 level I teach my kids that nobody walks through the middle of the crease without letting them know that you're there to mess up their day if the ball comes inside.

Either way, it was one heck of a ride this year. It's a shame that we have some great talent graduating, but this was a season that Nick can use to build on in the long term. Considering who we chalked W's up against this year and the fact that we were a bubble team going into the tourney... won the ECAC tourney and a first round game... it was one hell of a year.

ECAC tournament champs, highest NCAA seeding in program history, 1st home NCAA tournament game in program history, 2nd NCAA tournament win in program history. Always sucks to have a season ending loss, but this year was definitely a great success for a program that is headed in the right direction.

I agree on all counts. The longsticks went inexplicably AWOL yesterday...or at least their brains did. I've watched several games this year and the D seemed to communicate well and perform timely slides. They had been reasonably physical. Wow - not yesterday. Of course a great team like Cornell specifically attacks a D in a way to make it be unsure how to respond. It worked from the opening shot.

I get that we had nobody to stop Pannell and Mock one on one....nobody does. But we seemed to be so unprepared for Mock's cuts to the crease for feeds from Pannell. That was lax offense 101 yet our longstick middies were late EVERY single time in the 1st half. Mock was untouched on nearly every shot attempt.....that is unforgivable. Something must have really been changed up from the film by either Cornell or Ohio State. Because that was not the same OSU D I had seen all season.

Overall a very successful season and a great boost to Myers' resume as a big time coach. If he can start snagging a top 10 to 20 player each year instead of a top 50 player, he may be able to place the team on that player's shoulders. OSU just appeared to have a lot of decent to good players but no great ones. Even Schuss sort of blended into the background yesterday. Again, Cornell has great players all around so they have a way of doing that to a lot of good teams and not just OSU.

Sources: Johns Hopkins Lacrosse to Announce Joining the Big Ten Monday
Terry Foy June 2nd, 2013

Multiple sources have told Inside Lacrosse that Johns Hopkins will on Monday announce its intentions to join the Big Ten as an affiliate member in men's and women's lacrosse. By extension, the announcement keys the formation of Big Ten men's and women's lacrosse as league-sponsored sports for the first time.

The announcement will bring to fruition a several-month process to find a conference home for JHU's men's lacrosse program, which has played as an independent for 130 years. The Big Ten emerged as a target for the Blue Jays after Maryland and Rutgers announced their departure from the ACC and Big East, respectively, and intentions to join the Big Ten. That would make five men's lacrosse programs along with Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan, one short of the required six for an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

While many specifics of the membership remain unclear, a source believed that the women's team would join a newly formed Big Ten in 2014 (which would include Penn State, Ohio State, Northwestern and Michigan, who will be playing their first varsity season) and the men's team will join in 2015, which would coincide with Maryland and Rutgers' arrival.

Nice to see this thread pop up again. Hope to see more of us active in it through the spring.

I can't wait to get going myself. Working on playbooks for the season already. Cannot wait for spring.

Keep your sticks up!

Now I know its here, I'll try to keep some content on here from time to time.

I'm coaching U13 this year and I'm excited too. If we get some new horses at the mid-field (we lack speed and athleticism there) we should have a pretty good team this year. We have tons of experience returning.
