Head coach Chris Holtmann keeps building his staff as he inches toward the season.

As the basketball season inches closer, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann has added another assistant to his staff in former ECU assistant Mike Netti, as first reported by Pirate Radio 1250/930. One of the few OSU staff members that is not following the new head coach from Butler, Netti and Holtmann were assistants together years ago at Gardner-Webb.

Netti was with ECU for four seasons and is known for his recruiting, which is one of Holtmann’s sticking points moving forward with Ohio State’s program. During his time at Gardner-Webb, Netti helped develop two-time Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year Tim Jennings and had two recruiting classes ranked No. 1 in the league by HoopScoop.

The new Ohio State assistant has 13 years of Division I assistant experience and was a head coach for two years among the JUCO ranks at Lackawanna (Pa.) College. Netti graduated from Syracuse in 2002, but played Division III basketball at Alvernia College in Reading, Pa., lettering two years.
