Glover was brought in after Taison Chatman’s injury to back up Meechie Johnson and Bruce Thornton at guard.
Even though it’s September and fans are locked into college football, the fall also means that college basketball is right around the corner. From now until the start of the hoops season in early November, we will be doing player previews and team previews for all the players on the men’s basketball team and the new-look Big Ten Conference.
Name: Ques Glover
Position: Guard
Class: Fifth-year
High School/Previous School: Bearden High School/Kansas State/Samford/Florida/BYU
Hometown: Knoxville, Tenn
Weight: 185 pounds
Height: 6-foot
Glover is a transfer guard who has spent time at Florida, Samford, BYU and Kansas State. He has played 99 games with 46 starts in his college career at Florida and Samford. He spent a brief period of time at BYU, and missed the entire 2023-24 season at Kansas State due to injury.
He has been a great scorer throughout his career, scoring 1,022 points to go along with 201 assists while drilling 63 three-pointers. He also has 48 career double-digit scoring games, including 20 games of 20 or more points.
He was a part of back-to-back 20-win seasons for Samford and was selected to the All-SoCon Team both seasons, including consensus First Team honors in 2021-22. He was a finalist for the 2022 Lou Henson Award, which annually honors the nation’s top mid-major player.
At Samford, Glover led the Bulldogs to a 21-11 record in each of two of his seasons, and averaged 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals in 28.6 minutes per game in his 48-game career with Samford.
In his two seasons at Florida, he averaged 3.6 points on 42.1 percent shooting in 51 career games. He helped the Gators win 34 games and advance to the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
He went to Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tenn., where he led the Bulldogs to their first TSSAA Class AAA State Championship in 2019 and earned state tournament MVP honors.
It is difficult to determine Glover’s role on the team because he hasn’t played competitive basketball in almost two years and was injured all of last season.
It is easy to look at the four schools in four years and think that is a bad thing, but the context is important when discussing Glover’s career. He has only played at two schools, with him leaving BYU quickly and getting hurt at Kansas State.
Now he is in Columbus and ready to help sure up the guard depth behind Bruce Thornton and Meechie Johnson and a backup along with freshman Juni Mobley. If he is ready to go as the season begins, he can be a great scorer off the bench and a sparkplug for the Buckeyes while playing 10-15 minutes per game.
It will all depend on his health and what he can bring to the team, especially early on. If you miss the beginning of the season as a new player, it can be hard to catch up. Glover will look to avoid that as he aims for a fresh start with Ohio State.
