The Buckeyes got some great news today when four-star dual-threat quarterback Emory Jones out of Franklin, Georgia gave his commitment to the coaching staff.

Jones was once thought to be a heavy Tennessee lean, but everything changed for him when he received an offer from the Buckeyes this summer. He made two visits to the Ohio State campus – both unofficial – coming away impressed with the facilities and the coaching staff. Jones’s most recently visited during the much-heralded Friday Night Lights camp, where he stood out while performing among quite a few of the top prospects in the nation. He joins Brian Snead, a four-star running back out of Florida, as early members of the 2018 recruiting class.

The Buckeye quarterback room will be full of talent for the foreseeable future with the likes of J.T. Barrett, Joey Burrow, Dwayne Haskins, Tate Martell, Danny Clark, and now Emory Jones. There will be quite the battle to see who takes over once J.T. leaves, but once that’s decided, the Buckeyes should be set at quarterback through the 2022 season at least. Jones has told various outlets he’s not worried about the depth chart, and he knows he’ll need to go out and compete wherever he decides to attend college.
