The Buckeyes will learn today where 2025 4-star OT Jackson Lloyd will commit, and the program also offered a plethora of recruits following a Monday recruiting camp.
The Ohio State football team dove into the week headfirst when it came to recruiting. Ryan Day and the coaching staff hosted dozens of recruits on campus Monday for a summer camp. This all following a busy weekend of official visits, which saw the Buckeyes earn two verbal commitments.
The beginning of summer camps has certainly been busy for the Buckeyes, but the team has already seen it payoff. Ohio State has a significant hold on the No. 1 recruiting class for 2025, and it is not nearly done.
The Buckeyes are hoping to continue their hot streak on Tuesday, as one of their top offensive tackle targets in this year’s cycle is set to announce his commitment. 2025 four-star OT Jackson Lloyd (Carmel, CA / Carmel) is set to commit later today, and will be choosing between Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, Oregon, Stanford and Ohio State.
Ohio State has long been targeting Lloyd, and he has been on campus multiple times. Lloyd’s most recent visit with the Buckeyes was the weekend of June 7, when he took an official visit with the Buckeyes. That visit seemingly went as well as possible, however, Alabama has long been the favorites in this one.
The Tide hold the majority of the predictions cast on both 247Sports and On3, and he is coming off his official visit in Tuscaloosa. The timing of his announcements hints that the visit with Alabama was everything he was looking for, and does not spell great news for the Buckeyes.
Ryan Day and the Buckeyes have pulled off crazier things when it comes to recruiting, but if he were to choose the Buckeyes today, it would be Day’s finest work yet. Lloyd is the No. 19 OT in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 187 overall prospect. He is also the No. 17 recruit out of the talent-rich state of California.
As was mentioned above, Ohio State has been hosting numerous recruits on official visits since the start of the summer camp schedule. This past weekend, 2025 four-star wide receiver Phillip Bell (Mission Viejo, CA / Mission Viejo) took an official visit with the Buckeyes, and the visit went seemingly went as well as possible.
Following the weekend visit to Columbus, multiple predictions favoring the Buckeyes for Bell were cast, including On3 Director of Recruiting, Chad Simmons.
Bell has long been recruited by the Buckeyes, officially receiving a scholarship offer in March of 2023. Since then, he has visited with the Buckeyes but the home state school USC looked like the favorites. This no longer appears to be the case, as the Buckeyes are looking at him to be a key piece in this recruiting class.
Bell has not hinted at a commitment date yet, and he does still have an official visit with USC still to come. However, Ryan Day and Ohio State have to love where they sit right now with Bell.
Bell is the No. 16 WR in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 152 overall prospect. He is also the No. 13 recruit out of California.
Ohio State has to love where it sits with Peterson, who is the No. 1 SG in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 3 overall recruit.
