Losses to Penn State and Michigan in the past week have dropped the Buckeyes from the top-10.
It was a rough week on the hardwood for the Ohio State Buckeyes. On Feb. 15, the Chris Holtmann-coached squad suffered their second loss this season in conference play to Penn State in a 23-point defeat on the road. Then, on Sunday, the Michigan Wolverines got revenge on the Buckeyes, toppling the Scarlet and Gray by 12, 74-62.
Those two losses have dropped OSU from No. 8 to No. 16 in the AP Poll released today.
Running the table as the No. 1 team in the most recent AP Poll Top 25 are the Virginia Cavaliers. Right behind them are the Big Ten’s Michigan State Spartans. Even though Villanova beat Xavier on Saturday, the Wildcats are just one spot ahead of the Musketeers, with both team filing in again at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Duke, who came off a win against Clemson on Sunday, rounds out the top-5.
Joining the Buckeyes and Spartans in the Top 25 from the Big Ten are Purdue (No. 9) and Michigan (No. 17).
Middle Tennessee State, who shows up at No. 24, cracked the AP Poll for the first time in school history.
Here’s this week’s full poll:
