Ohio State ends season at No. 5 in final AP Poll

The Buckeyes are sandwiched in between Clemson (No. 4) and national champions UCF (No.6).

Even though it was an all SEC national championship, the 2017-18 season is officially over, as the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs in overtime, 26-23, off of a game-winning 41-yard touchdown from backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

With the season done, the final AP Poll was released—and the Ohio State Buckeyes remained at the No. 5 spot. Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson were the top four teams, respectively, while the UCF Knights came in at No. 6.

The Knights, who claimed themselves as national champions, defeated the Auburn Tigers in the Peach Bowl. Auburn defeated both Alabama and Georgia—two participants of the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State wasn’t the only representative from the Big Ten. Wisconsin and Penn State ended the season as No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. Michigan State popped up at the No. 15 spot, and Northwestern wasn’t too far behind at No. 17.
