As episode 1 of Urban vs Harbaugh kicked off, many questions surrounded The Game. Could Ohio State rebound after losing their first B1G regular season game under Urban Meyer? How would the offense of Ohio State rebound after last week’s awful showing versus MSU? Who would take over the play calling? How would Ezekiel Elliott respond to a week of criticism after his comments in last week’s loss? Many questions would be answered early. On 2 of Ohio State’s first 3 offensive plays, the Buckeyes gain first downs.

The Buckeyes would have the ball deep in their own territory late in the 1st quarter and on 4th and 9, Michigan would help the Buckeyes out by roughing punter Cam Johnston in the end zone and giving the Buckeyes a second chance on the drive. Ezekiel Elliott would take it 66 yards to the Michigan 9 where JT Barrett would take it in from the 7, 2 plays later.

The Buckeyes had problems all half stopping the Michigan passing attack. Jake Rudock was 14-24 for 174 yards and a 5 yard TD pass to Chesson with 1 minute left in the half. The Wolverines used screens and misdirection passes to dink and dunk the Buckeyes who seem lost once again against the pass.

On offense it seemed to once again be moving on the ground for the Buckeyes. JT Barrett ran the read option to perfection in the first half. Barrett carried it 8 times for 64 yards in the first half including the 7 yard touchdown and Elliott had 10 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown.

The second half was one word……DOMINATION. The Buckeyes outscored Michigan 28-0 while rushing for 3 more touchdowns. Ezekiel Elliott passed Eddie George for 2nd all time rushing at Ohio State with 214 yards. Michigan could muster nothing on offense in the second half and the defense couldn’t stop OSU with the exception of one 3 and out in the 4th quarter. The Buckeyes win the game 42-13.

The Buckeyes will sit back and watch Michigan State/Penn State to see if they will be playing next week in Indianapolis. The Buckeyes end the regular season with an 11-1 record.
