Ohio State crushed a cupcake for Halloween in 2009

It was a memorable Halloween for the New Mexico State Aggies when they fell to the Buckeyes in the 'Shoe in 2009 with a final score of 49-0.
The New Mexico State Aggies might not have been dressed as the Invisible Man for Halloween in 2009, but considering the way they played against the Buckeyes on Halloween, they may as well have.
The Buckeyes were ranked 17th in the nation, and the Aggies were unranked. Clearly the Buckeyes were favored, especially at home, but the 45-0 victory was dominant in every sense. Ohio State held the Aggies to just 62 total offensive yards and only two first downs in four quarters.
Ohio State, on the other hand, put up 559 yards of total offense. The defense created three turnovers -- two fumble recoveries and one interception -- and New Mexico State's quarterback, Jeff Fleming, finished the game with a quarterback rating of 7.
Six Ohio State players had more offensive yards individually than New Mexico State's entire offense managed in this game. Terrelle Pryor did through the air, with 135 passing yards, and also on the ground, with 83 rushing yards. Backup quarterback Joe Bauserman had 75 passing yards on just two completions. Jordan Hall had 90 rushing yards, and Duron Carter, Devier Posey and Dane Sanzenbacher each had more receiving yards than New Mexico State's entire offense could gain in this game with 82, 79 and 72 yards, respectively. Boom Herron just missed the cut with 66 rushing yards.
And Ohio State put up 45 points despite not scoring anything in the first or fourth quarters. The Buckeyes put up 28 points on the Aggies in the second quarter, and 17 points in the third quarter.
It wasn't a surprise, really, that New Mexico State was so outmatched against the Buckeyes on the road, even with Ohio State's starters benched at the half. The Aggies, at that point, had the least offensive yards of any BCS team that season.
The Aggies, who finished the season with a 3-10 record overall and 1-7 record in conference play, were well-compensated for their trip to Columbus. The program earned $850,000 for losing so spectacularly to the Buckeyes in 2009.
The 2009 Buckeyes, of course, would go on from their big win over New Mexico State to finish the season 11-2, with losses to No. 3 USC as well as Purdue. Ohio State won the Big Ten and represented the conference in the Rose Bowl, taking down Oregon with a final score of 26-17.
