A future Buckeye quarterback was key in leading his team to a big time win over the weekend.

Future Buckeye QB shines in victory

While Ryan Day and the rest of the coaching staff are hard at work getting the Ohio State Buckeyes football squad ready for their season opener against Oregon State on Sept. 1, many of their current verbal commits were back in action over the weekend.

A number of future Bucks showed why they’re considered top prospects with their play on the field, but one 2020 commit in particular put up more than big numbers on Friday night.

Playing alongside fellow OSU running back commit Darvon Hubbard, standout junior quarterback Jack Miller didn’t just throw for over 400 yards, he led Chaparral High (Arizona) to an overtime win over Hamilton.

Connecting on 23 of his 46 passing attempts for three scores, Miller’s biggest touchdown completion of the evening came when his team needed it the most.

Trailing 33-30 to Hamilton in overtime, Miller connected with Marcus Norvell II on a huge third down play to end the game and give the Firebirds a 36-33 come from behind win.

Miller might’ve grabbed the headline with his play, but OSU commit Darvon Hubbard scored a pair of touchdowns for Chaparral— also demonstrating his skills.

2020 OL to commit soon

Already holding pledges from Jake Wray, Paris Johnson and Luke Wypler, Ohio State could soon add another prized lineman to their 2020 class.

Taking to his Twitter page to share with the world that he will shut down his recruitment sooner rather than later, five-star offensive guard Justin Rogers will pick his college destination in the coming weeks.

Commit coming soon do not ask me why

— Justin Rogers (@AllAmerican52JR) August 18, 2018

Considered the best guard and 14th overall prospect in the entire class of 2020, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Rogers has earned over 35 scholarship offers from programs across the country.

No stranger to the Ohio State campus, Rogers, an Oak Park, Michigan native, was once thought as an OSU lean by many, has since had programs such as the University of Georgia try to pluck the Oak Park High School teammate of current 2019 OSU commit Dwan Mathis out of the Buckeyes’ grasp.

Will Rogers end up in the Scarlet and Gray? We won’t have to wait much longer to find out. Stick with Land-Grant Holy Land for the latest.

Quick Hits

  • Before he announces his college destination, four-star class of 2019 center Isaac Johnson plans to visit Ohio State, per Rivals. Not only eyeing OSU, the Utah standout will also check out the campuses of Utah, Oregon, (potentially) BYU, and Gonzaga before announcing his choice.
  • Ohio State has offered Akron Buchtel class of 2022 shooting guard Chris Livingston. Still years away from playing on the next level, the 6-foot-4 Livingston has caught the attention of coaches from not just OSU, but also Kentucky, and others.
