giving up the open 3s in the zone is always going to be a problem

especially when the other team is hitting them left and right (Iowa last game and Minnesota today)

the open threes have been a result of offensive rebounds. It isn't as if teams are working the ball for open 3's.

The defensive rebounding has been terrible all year. Every jumpshot, someone crashes uncontested. They have a lot of trouble getting bodies on rebounders.

But the offensive rebounds lead to a breakdown on the perimter, and uncontested shots. Ideally, they start rebounding, and stop the other team from getting easy looks.

7-29 is the most shocking stat. Their offensive sets rarely create open looks. Turner ends up driving out of control, or Diebler gets off a deep 3. Or someone forces a shot in amongst the trees.

The bad shots are leading to fast break points for Minny....something we took advantgae of in the first 10 minutes.

The defensive rebounding has been getting crushed yet again, too.

Exactly, same problem they had last year. They normally play pretty good to great defense in the zone until the first shot is taken... no box outs, standing and watching the shot instead of being aggressive on the boards. Sometimes it seems like all 5 want to get going on the break... but you need to get the ball in order to start running.

Granted offensive rebounds have been a problem, but that's one of things inherent with a zone.

Also Iowa wasn't getting a majority of their 3s off of offensive boards, they were passing the ball around the perimeter until they had an open look.

I think it is more than not getting open looks... it is not hitting those open looks when they get them. Simmons, Buford, Turner, and Diebler all had good looks they did not knock down in the first half. That is going to happen from time to time but when it does you need to get aggressive on the offensive boards.

Agree with the second and third points.
