OHIO STATE--68 TENNESSEE--66 (Final)

Conley reportedly shoots well in practice, it's nice to see that finally translate to the floor. If he can add a somewhat consistent 3 to his game, that makes this offense a lot harder to defend. (teams often leave him out there daring him to shoot)
The vast majority of the misses from 3 were by guys who didn't have their feet set (I think Harris set up right once and Ron Lewis set up and missed too). Conley's were great - he set his feet and fired. The others have been rushed/off-balance to a large extent.
Agreed

ding away. the talent is definitely there, but IMHO this team is way too streaky to be ranked #5. they don't seem to be able to play a complete game.
they have not accounted for the wisky loss yet...

Good point to bring out. Teams have been laying off Conley because he passes up shots

As much as I love this team, I think they are a bit overrated NOW. But, by the end of the year, I don't know if there is a team I like better than them, if they can pull it all together.
I think I still like Florida's team better... but OSU can certainly play with anyone if they live up to their potential.

Should be about 15th right now imo. If they are better at the end of the year, then they are better. Right now Top 5 is WAY too high for this team.

I can't argue your point, it seems to be a different area that hurts us every game.......its a product of having so many young guys in key roles.

Halftime stats:

Oden: 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.
Conley: 8 points, 1 assist
Cook: 4 points, 2 rebounds
Hunter: 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists
Harris: 4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist

Lewis/Butler combined for zero points on 0-4 shooting.

I think that momentum can be a big problem sometimes. I think we could have won or stayed close in some of the games we lost if Thad Matta had called timeouts when we were going cold and UNC/Florida/Wisky would go on runs. We have a young team and I think he should try his best to calm them down and try to stop the momentum when an opposing team is going on a run. Just my opinion though, could be wrong.

I totally disagree......they may have had a bad half shooting the ball today, but we have a total of three losses on the road against the top 3 teams in the nation. How are we overrated? We played at UNC without Oden and came very close to pulling it out. Florida, we got beat every way possible, but who wins at Florida? Recently at Wisky, we showed a ton of heart and came up just short and by the way, Wisky has lost what......2 games at home in 5 years.

Lets not rush to judgement without taking a look at the big picture.

I'm not saying we're not streaky, but when you look at our only 3 losses of the year and who beat us (9 on the road at UNC without Oden and 3 on the road at Wisky), this team should be right about 5. Who would you put above us? With the exception of the Florida game, we have beaten who we should have and kept the very, very tough away games close.

I was not just talking about this game, I just think we are too young. Whenever we are in a close game, we just can't seem to pull it out. I think they have the opportunity to be a top 5 team, but until we prove that we can win the close games, I just don't think we are up there.

We lost two close games on the ROAD. We have won a few close games at HOME. Its tough to win on the road....period. Did everyone forget the Indiana game at home?

35-33.....Butler with the lay-up.

That is true. I just feel that we aren't there yet. Perhaps we are. This game should be a good indication of where we are at. They would be the first top 25 team we beat, and should solidify we are a top team, who has only lost to top 5 teams.

Yeah, I noticed at Wiscy when they went on a role in the second that Thad let them play without a TO and some of our guys got pretty impatient throwing up a few really poor shots when they needed to work the ball around, settle down and get a high percentage shot. Could just be one out of place example in Thad's game management. But in the games we've lost I have noticed when the other team goes on a run, our guys tend to throw up some quick shots (especially threes) to try to get it back quick. Just part of being young and excited.
