Tom Izzo: State of urgency, not panic time, for Spartans
1/14/2008, 4:09 p.m. EST
The Associated Press
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) ? Tom Izzo ripped his basketball team after a 40-point win four weeks ago but couldn't fault Michigan State's effort in a humbling 43-36 loss at Iowa on Saturday.
The Spartans (14-2, 2-1 Big Ten) fell from sixth to 11th in the rankings this week and slipped a game behind Indiana and Wisconsin in a bid for their first Big Ten title since 2001.
But Izzo isn't changing his lineup or installing a different offense for Tuesday's visit from Ohio State and Saturday's rematch with Minnesota.
Continued......
Teams really haven't had that much trouble shutting Neitzel down so far this year, he's been a big disappointment's. Most of his stats have went up, but he's just not the same scoring threat that he was last year. Granted, maybe he'll go off on OSU like he did in the second half last year, but I really just don't see it. It seems like he's just worn out.crazybuckfan40;1065978; said:This could be a season changing type win if we can get this one or the one at UT...
I would rather get this one, tho as it counts in the big ten...
I think that we match up well here, with MSU big guys being of the foreign variety much like KK...Morgan and Hunter is a solid matchup...I just hope that we can shut down Neitzel and control the paint...
Also we need to shoot the ball well from the outside...

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
OHIO STATE AT NO. 11 MICHIGAN STATE
7 tonight
? Where: Breslin Center, East Lansing, Mich.
? TV: ESPN
? Radio: WBNS-AM (1460), WBNS-FM (97.1)
? Records: Ohio State 12-4 overall, 3-1 Big Ten; Michigan State 14-2, 2-1
? Matchup to watch: Michigan State will dog Jamar Butler as much as if not more than Purdue did. The Spartans have a deep bench and play a faster pace than the Boilermakers. Butler's teammates need to step to the fore and balance the Ohio State offense. Who will it be?
? Noteworthy: Ohio State has won back-to-back games in the Breslin Center. Illinois (2005-06) and Wisconsin (2002, '04) are the only other Big Ten teams to do that in the past 10 years. . . . Ohio State's .355 field-goal percentage at Purdue was the third time all season it has shot under 42 percent. ... Matt Terwilliger matched his career high with six rebounds at Purdue. . . . The 36 points Michigan State scored in a loss at Iowa on Saturday were its fewest in a game since 1952.
? Next up: at Tennessee, 3:30 p.m. Saturday
