Game Thread Ohio State 37, Penn State 17 (final)

Tebow leads the nation in passing eff. He backs up his hype with some pretty good statistics.

true, true... but my point is that leading in passing efficiency doesn't/shouldn't necessarily guarantee top spot in the heisman race. troy didn't have such high efficiency numbers either last year, but he won because, ultimately, he was the leader on the nation's best team. what it comes down to, with espn's framework for putting the heisman race into context by doing this up/down/even thing week-after-week, is that tebow, while deserving to stay in contention, didn't have a winning performance on satruday (literally) and, therefore, doesn't deserve to have his stock move up.

i would be more pissed if I had to....uh....."sing" along to that White Stripes song every other play. Not that the White Stripes suck or anything, but just having to make that noise over and over and over again would just annoy me. I'm glad we don't do any of that shit.

No shit...I had that song in my head the rest of day (keep in mind it was a 2:00 pm game here). And then my dumbass re-watched it last night and guess what...same shit. At least Wisconsin plays "Jump Around" only once a game...

Redemption Tour

The next stop on the buckeyes redemption tour.....Wisconsin.

On another note.... My friends best line of the night....

"While on the bus to the Stadium Morelli looks at JoePa and says, coach I can smell the hotdogs. Joe replies, We are 3 miles from the stadium."
What a Schnoz!

I know I was just hearing the crowd noise on my tv, but that was the loudest crowd I have ever heard! Well done PSU fans!

But, crowd behavior was bad I have heard from several sources.
Giving glow sticks to that drunken crowd(who threw them) was a horrible decision! WTF were they thinking? :(

you obviously haven't been to any rock concerts recently...

after watching the game on the DVR, Tressel really threw the book at State Penn.

shotgun formations from the silver package:

SE..... LT LG C RG RT...TE
............................TE........FL
...........RB...QB

three-wide personnel groups that motioned into two TE looks:

SE......LT LG C RG RT TE
...........x----------------SL---FL
.................QB...RB

offset I pro looks with Zoom lined up at FB:

.........TE LT LG C RG RT.........SE
FL..................QB
..............RB
.....................RB

Zoom lined up at TE in a power set and motioning:

....TE LT LG C RG RT TE
.TE--------QB--------->.......FL

................RB

a funky two back look that i don't know how to define. sometimes a true fullback was behind Todd, but Zoom was back there at least once:

.........TE LT LG C RG RT ...........SE
FL..................QB

.....................FB...TB

and a stacked receiver look that i don't think we've seen in the Tressel era:

......... TE LT LG C RG RT..........SE
.......TE.................................WR
......................QB...RB

Meantime their offense threw one real wrinkle of merit at Ohio State for most of the night ...

running into a Defense that was set to stop a pass.

Once Heacock and Co. stopped that gap Tressel was playing chess, while the once deemed genius level Paterno (and his sidekicks of Hall on "O" and Bradley on "D") were playing checkers.

lv - I think we did see that stacked set once, in 2005.

I saw where one of their defensive players (I think it was King) said that we threw a bunch of stuff at them that they hade never seen on film. Way to go Tressel!

The great thing is that Skunkbear defenders will probably be saying the same thing in three weeks.

once? in '05? dammit. i wasn't paying attention! :p

i will say one thing, that ball fake that Morelli pulled on the play-action where he took off running was a thing of beauty... too bad the safeties didn't bite...
