Game Thread Ohio State 20, Wisconsin 17 (Oct. 4)

If there was ever a game to stack the box and dare a QB and WRs to beat us.. this is the one..

Wisconsin has absolutely nobody on the perimeter and this QB is not a very good thrower

If we sit back and dont get after this guy and dont put extra men in the box to stuff the run.. Im gonna pull my hair out
I hope you look good bald.

Our secondary has looked good enough to be challenged.. I hope we challenge them. Put Malcolm and Chimdi/DWash in man, one safety back, bring the rest hard.

I want to see Hines blasting their backfield. I can see him having a huge game against a team like Wisconsin.

Oh...don't get me wrong. I completely agree, I just don't think that is what we are going to see.

I think we will see only a few blitzes, cover 2, same ol' same ol'. But...quite honestly, I think we may get quite a few picks this week playing our vanilla defense. What we NEED is our front four to get pressure, so that our LBs are freed up to roam the field. That is when Buckeye Defense is at its best.

With Evridge not being a very sound passer I think we'll be able to create some turnovers, but in order to get them to throw the ball we absolutely have to stop the run. That's definitely the key to this one. If we can keep them under 150 yards rushing we should roll, but as was said earlier, we need to stack the box. Oh yeah, it'll certainly help if they go 30% on 3rd down again, too.

Offensively, Beanie and Pryor should be able to run circles around them. If we can have a couple long drives capped off with 6 in the first quarter I don't see the crowd being too much of an issue.

I'd love to see a 14-6 smash-mouth game won in the trenches and with field position but the realist in me says that ain't gunna happen. Bucks win 31-20, mark it down!

The Buckeye D is allowing less than 100 rushing yards per game. Only USC and OU were able to break the 100yd mark, most of OU's coming on scrambles. I'm sure Wisky will get some yards on the ground, but if we can keep Hill from breaking loose, it will be hard for the Badgers to sustain drives. If Beckum can't contribute much, UW's one-dimensional O will not be able to keep pace with our big play ability. I'm thinking that playing against a pro-style offense will give the D-line a better chance to get pressure on the QB. Since USC, the line has shown some improvement and has been within inches of getting multiple sacks. If Everidge gets hurried, everyone in our defensive backfield can make him pay.

One of the benefits of the timing for this game is that UW only has one game worth of film with our current lineup. Both Beanie and Pryor have the ability to pick up yardage in large chunks, even on the bread and butter plays. Their DC will be guessing a lot on calls because, well, no one yet knows what this offense is going to do. As long as the Buckeyes protect the football, they should be able to put up enough points to win, even if it comes down to field position and FGs. I'm feeling much more confident about this game than I was before the Minny game. It will still be a tough test, but with Beckum questionable and some good film to study from the UW/UM game, I think we win just by playing our game.

The x-factor may be the atmosphere at Camp Randall. No one on our roster has played in Madison, and Pryor has not played in a road night game (USC started at 5pm PDT). Pryor has shown that he will not back away from trash talking. So far, it has seemed to give him a boost, an incentive to prove himself. The drunken hordes in Madison will definitely try to push his buttons, and Pryor can't let the crowd get in his head. Luckilly, he has plenty of mature influences on the sideline and the field to help keep him focused. Badger fans may be smart to keep their taunting above board, they could be playing with fire.

COLUMBUS - After Ohio State's 34-21 win over Minnesota on Saturday, quarterback Terrelle Pryor was talking about he and Ohio State had something to prove this Saturday at Wisconsin.
Little did he know that a few hours later Wisconsin would be feeling the same way after a stunning collapse allowed Michigan to beat the Badgers 27-25.
Suddenly, both teams in OSU's game at Wisconsin are on a path to redemption.
While many of his teammates claim, not entirely believably, that they don't pay attention to what is said or written about them, Pryor named names when he talked about being motivated to prove something.
"People like Mark May, he said, ?Let's see how he plays on the big stage. And we're going to see next week," the freshman quarterback said. "The media, ESPN people, sit there and talk stuff about our team and say we're dead. We'll find out this week who's dead."
Ohio State (4-1, 1-0 Big Ten) will play at Wisconsin (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) in a nationally televised night game. It is the first trip to Wisconsin for an OSU team since 2003.
Before the Badgers let a 19-point lead slip away in the final 18 minutes of their game against Michigan, many people viewed them as the favorite against the Buckeyes.
Ohio State was seen as still repairing the damage to its confidence brought on by a 35-3 loss to Southern California on Sept. 13.
But now the confidence issue might be more a Wisconsin issue than an OSU issue.
Wisconsin appeared to be in control against Michigan with a 19-0 halftime lead. The Wolverines were booed off the field at halftime by an unhappy crowd at Michigan Stadium after turning the ball over five times and gaining just 21 yards in the first half.
The second half was an entirely different story, though.

beckum is the best te in the big ten, no doubt-maybe the country...

Gilreath is pretty quick too. I don't know how good of a WR he is though.

Force them into 3rd and long situations as much as possible and we have a good shot to win. If they are getting 3rd and short, we are in trouble. JL and Co. will have to bring their "I could be tackling Brandon Jacobs on Sundays, so PJ Hill doesn't scare me" game.

I definetly agree with stacking the box against hill, but the safety(s) has to be aware of Beckum at all times, or whoever lines up on him. Even to that point, jam him on the line every time. This should be a stellar game for a guy like Ross Homan imo...he is a great run stopper and we are going to run a lot of 4-3. The DT's are going to have to stand there ground and to make up for them, we are going to need to keep the DL fresh. Keep in mind though, night games in Camp Randall are always tough. It's vital that the offense in firing on all cylinders from the get-go.

I watched the Wisky/Woverine game and felt that after the 19 Pt lead at the half, it appeared the Badgers were way to overconfident. Then the momentum changed hands bigtime. You all saw the result and now I begin to wonder if we are catching them at the wrong time. Now they really have something to prove and I sure hope our Buckeyes are ready. Camp Randall is just as bad as Beaver Stadium on a saturday night game. I hope we can play Wisconsin at the same level as we played against Penn State last year.
