I mean, come on. Was there really any doubt on this one?

In one of the least surprising announcements in recent memory, today, the Big Ten Conference named Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week following his historic efforts in the still mind-blowing comeback against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday night.

On the whole, Barrett went 33-for-39 for 328 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 95 yards, which was four more than Penn State’s entire team, including Heisman contender Saquon Barkley.

While he didn’t throw an interception, he did misplay a hand-off that resulted in a turnover. However, in retrospect, that can be forgiven when considering the fact that Barrett went 13-for-13 for 170 yards and three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He finished the game completing 16 straight attempts.

The honor marks Barrett’s ninth Player of the Week award, tying him for most in conference history with Wisconsin’s Ron Dayne and Michigan’s Denard Robinson.

The win catapulted the Buckeyes to third nationally, ahead of tomorrow’s first College Football Playoff rankings, and likely cemented Barrett’s place in this year’s Hesiman race.
