Ohio High School Basketball Discussion

Anyone on here going to the Princeton - Lakota West game tonight? A couple Buckeye recruits (at least) are playing in this game, Kam Mercer from Princeton and Joshua Tyson from Lakota West. Originally set to be played at Lakota West, but sold out within 2 minutes and they moved it to the Cintas Center on Xavier's campus.

Mercer just dunking on Lakota now. 2 dunks and a put back layup (after poking Tyson in the eye). Santiago is hitting 3s for Princeton and they have shaved the deficit, score now 23-16 with 3 minutes left in the half.

Lakota's other top recruit, Curry, is missing a lot of shots.

Cincinnati Wyoming takes home Ohio's first boys' state title to be decided this year, blowing out Cleveland Glenville (with Ted Ginn Sr. in attendance). I've hooped for years with a couple of the dads of Wyoming's starters, and this is a really big deal to that community. When you get to know these families and kids and then see them improve every year until reaching the pinnacle, well, it makes it special even for someone with such a tangential relationship. Really happy for them. They aren't going on to big schools to play in college, but the schools that get them will be lucky to have them. Definitely helps soften the heartbreak of watching Ohio State lose such a close game yesterday.

Princeton demolished Hilliard Bradley 59-28 to bring the D1 title to Cincinnati for the first time in a while. OSU recruit Kam Mercer had a quiet game offensively, scoring 3 points, but his +/- was large. Amire Gill was on fire, scoring 24 points on 10-12 shooting - I've heard rumors he is going the prep school route. Rognny Santiago Lugo had a monster tournament, 12 points in the final, but had 28 in the semifinals over St. Eds. He is a PURE shooter, set to play college ball at Findlay next year. I don't know what his actual height is, but a bigger school might want to take a chance on Santiago - he fills a need for most teams.
