Game Thread Ohio at tOSU, Sat Sep 18, 12 ET, BTN/Overflow

Taking out the special teams, just wanted to point out that with the safety today, the 1st string defense has now scored 8 points, while only allowing 6 (the 4th Q TD against the prevent by Miami).

Good day today, folks. The bad news: EMU is so...... much worse than Ohio. They're on a 14 game losing streak and their coach is a waste of space.

How do you get up for a game like that? I mean, they'd beat Meatchicken, but... they won't give the Buckeyes much of a fight.

Go Bucks! 13 and Oh!

I get up for a game like that because that is the game I got in the lottery. Yay me. :osu:

one of my favorite parts of the day: it's halftime and the OU band comes out being introduced as "the most electrifying band in the land" :roll1:. from the small amount of time I've spent on the OU boards I guess they're pretty proud of their band. they played a couple songs and did some formations.....nothing too impressive. then they drop their instruments and start dancing around in place. it was all very odd.....of course the OU fans are going crazy over how "awesome" it all is. my wife has no idea about the little brother syndrome OU has.....or the fact that the OU band is supposed to be good....or the fact that OU fans want so badly to have something better than Ohio State. she couldn't really care less about any of that stuff.

she turns to me while the OU fans are cheering like they just scored and says "I don't get it". it was awesome

The guy was just being an idiot. You don't need to defend him.

Can't we get over the whole "this color commentary...that color commentary...hates Ohio State and has a beef with us."

Most color commentators are idiots. I at least liked how he pointed out the flaws in the team. Frankly I don't need to hear it, and neither do you because we're both pretty big football fans it seems and can understand by just watching. But to the casual fan just tuning in for 15 minutes to see whats up, or the mother tuning in to watch the school her son or daughter goes to, he is just pointing out the areas of weakness.

All teams have issues right now including Ohio State, and Alabama does too. Did he say some stupid shit? Absolutely, but it's better than Bob Davie screaming "THE BACK OF HIS HAND HIT THE GROUND HE'S DOWN!!!" 400 times in a row, or telling me that Marvin McNutt having a foot down and complete control of the ball makes the play impossible to overturn. (those would only make sense if you watched the Iowa game)

What was odd about the Iowa commentary was how they kept repeating, "It's a sack!" I mean really. How many times in a row can you say that?

Davie, talking about that same play, also said "you can't have the back of your hand hit the ground without your forearm also being on the ground."

I think he needs to head to TSUN to take a kinesiology course.

"3-0 with a little bit of an asterisk" wow what a douche. I don't know what team this year doesn't have things to work on. That doesn't mean you completely belittle every win they have. That's completely douchey.

The color commentator for the BTN was a freaking downer today. Hell, at the end of the game, he said, "The Buckeyes are 3-0, but with an asterisk." What the hell? He spent the whole game complaining about the Buckeyes even though they were scoring every possession.

It's just in the nature of some people to complain. This isn't limited to Chris Martin, though it was certainly frustrating to listen to yesterday.

I recall some of the tweets and coverage last week during and after the Miami game that were along these lines from at least one member of the Buckeye media. I'm not gonna call him out by name because he's a friend of mine, but the stuff some people are nitpicking over is kinda silly. This has been a very strong start to the season - a lot of positive things are happening.
