THE HURRY-UP: 2024 OFFENSIVE LINEMAN JAKE WHEELOCK CALLED VISIT FROM JUSTIN FRYE A “GREAT EXPERIENCE,” TYSEER DENMARK AND DAEVIN HOBBS SET COMMITMENT DATES

Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye made use of his Friday during the off week, hitting the ground running recruiting in the state of Ohio.

He stopped at Wayne to see OSU commit Joshua Padilla before attending fellow commit Luke Montgomery’s senior night at Findlay. But he also checked in on 2024 offensive lineman Jake Wheelock at Stebbins High School earlier that afternoon.

“He came in briefly just to check in on me,” Wheelock told Eleven Warriors. “We talked about the status of the team and the game plan for the week. It was brief, but it was another great experience for me. Any chance to talk to him I love. He wanted to reinforce that I am still a top recruit on his board.”

Wheelock visited Ohio State earlier this fall for the Buckeyes’ game against Toledo. While the only two Division I offers he’s picked up thus far are Akron and Toledo, OSU remains interested in the 6-foot-4, 275-pound lineman. He plays left tackle currently for Stebbins, though the Buckeyes envision him as more of a guard or center at the next level. Ohio State is still the offer Wheelock hopes for the most in his recruitment.

“I really love (Ohio State),” Wheelock said in September. “I’ve told people time and time again that is the offer to me and I’ll pull the trigger pretty quickly if I can get that offer. It’ll probably be pretty quick once I get it.”

• Three-star 2024 offensive lineman Jake Wheelock: “I got to talk to coach Frye and Sollenne again. Always love talking to them. Frye was big on telling me the importance of the offseason and to make sure that technique is the number one priority for me this offseason. The weight room is always important but what matters is becoming a better football player. And of course, the game day experience was great as always. I loved the environment and seeing the offensive line dominate again.”
