Per Birm, Ohio State remains a strong favorite for five star CB Elbert Hill.

Hill is taking his visits right now, but ultimately his Buckeye fandom and the Archbishop Hoban pipeline should be Ohio State's trump card over the other schools.
Enjoying the process, he'll be a Buckeye.

Kalen DeBoer is a real thorn in Ohio State’s side with elite 2026 recruit who the Buckeyes can’t let get away

The Ohio State Buckeyes have a great class of football players in the state for the class of 2026 and they have to take advantage of that.

Ohio State isn’t too far in putting their 2026 class together with just four commitments. Five-star wideout Chris Henry Jr. is the top commitment for the Buckeyes and one they have to keep committed until signing day.

Five-star cornerback Elbert Hill is a top target for the Buckeyes and a player right in Akron, Ohio. Hill has been a consistent visitor to Columbus over the last couple of seasons, but the Buckeyes are going to have to fight off a major SEC program.

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Hill will visit Alabama on the first day that recruits can get back on campus on March 3. Instead of being in Columbus, which is a much shorter drive, Hill is on the road to Tuscaloosa.

“The Crimson Tide has quietly moved itself into the top group of schools on Hill’s list. After the game day visit for the Georgia game and an in-person visit with Kalen DeBoer and other coaches in January, Alabama is surging in this race.” — Steve Wiltfong, On3

Alabama is always going to have a cachet. Even after Saban has ridden into the sunset. But being a home-boy isn't a guarantee, as we saw last recruiting cycle with the in-state 5*s leaving for Oregon. NIL seems to have leveled the playing field, now that payola is out in the open (take that SEC!), so it seems like many go for the Golden Rule - he who has the most gold, makes the rules. And with a $million NIL, he can fly his parents to his games and put them up in the penthouse...

No it won’t. If Deboer continues with 2-3 loss seasons and few SEC titles, then they begin to fall into the LSU, Florida, USC type category. Big name based on the past titles, but not good enough to yearly be in the NC hunt. Right now seniors in HS were in 7th grade when LSU had one of the most dominant teams in CFb, they don’t care. If Bama has a similar season next year to this year, NIL will be the main factor to sell, and that’s about it. Sabans mystique is gone, NIL is what has Hill looking at them. But OSU has to decide if they want to enter these NIL battles for HSers, because they’ve shown recently that they can also put a kid in the NFL. But entering bidding wars means that they may also have to up what they pay the current roster, or put fine print in deals that they need to play a certain amount as well
