Per Birm:
Kind of surprised by this, but a player that's definitely similar in style and size to Mathis -- more likely to stay in the program and develop than an out of state kid, though.
I would not be surprised to see an official visit next weekend here, don't expect him at Ohio State this weekend for Indiana game however.

I actually was just thinking the same thing, if there's a chance to flip then go for the flip.
Agreed! But Birm also mentioned that this hasn't been LJsr's strategy in recruiting(outside of Kirk's last year).
It's going to be a much smarter strategy to go after a "project" like Coleman over Mathis. Both have similar builds and will need a few years to get their bodies college ready

For sure, LJ Sr used to just lock down the Bosa's and Young's of the world. Lately the trend is missing late on prospects like that or having them decommit. Not saying we completely alter the strategy of going for top prospects, but taking at least one guy like Coleman each cycle would be a really good idea.
