OFFICIAL: "What were you thinking?"...Michigan Week Thread

Well, the week has finally come...the one that has had me pissed for over a year and half and which has caused the words "stupid" and "idiot" and the phrase "what were you thinking" to be used numerous times.

As we all know, this Saturday we play scUM. The one weekend of the year people in Ohio should know better than to schedule anything else.

Unfortunately, this Saturday is also my sister's wedding...at 1:30pm. Now granted, she went to Bowling Green instead of Ohio State, but there is absolutely no excuse! She was raised in a Buckeye household and should know better. She knows what this game means to me...as well as my other other sister who also went to Ohio State and is the Maid of Honor.

I already have the ear-piece radio in order to listen to the game during the ceremony and I am working on getting a TV set-up in the side chambers of the church for us to watch before and after the actual ceremony (of course it is a Catholic wedding, so it will be a good 45 minutes).

I'm feeling depressed, pissed, and desperate and want to disown my sister, is this wrong?.....:sad2: :pissed: :2004:

Oh....and for one last kick in the crotch.....she's marrying a scUM fan....:smash:

Marrying a Michigan fan, you say? I'd say the evidence shows quite the contrary. No Ohio State or Michigan fan would marry on the day of THE GAME.

Bgrad, if it were up to me, I'd say skip it. Come down with the bird flu or something.

On a slightly serious note, but one far too late, when this date was originally being kicked around, someone should have advised her that more than half of the people there will have their attention somewhere else, and did she really want her "day" to be one where people have an eye on the TV or an ear on the radio for the whole time?

This was mentioned...it didn't matter.

The selection process revolved around only two facts: 1) my sister wanted a fall wedding, and 2) most of the people attending the wedding (including my dad and brother) are farmers. Since the harvest trumps everything for these farmers, it typically rules out the possibilities of fall weddings (always a positive for me as I rarely missed Saturday football games).

What really baffled me though is there have been plenty of years that the fall harvest goes past the scUM game, which meant my sister risked having 1/2 the community not show up for the wedding (evening reception a different story). I tried to convince her to move the date back 1-2 weeks, but for whatever reason she wouldn't budge. I even pointed out how she was going to miss Thanksgiving with the family because she will be in Jamaica for her honeymoon...however, this backfired as they got 50% off their Sandles package because they are going over the holidy weekend.

He is a scUM fan in that it is the team he supports...he just isn't a big football fan. His favorite sport is NASCAR....I know, yet another strike against him.

Bgrad, I feel for you man. My wife's uncle did the same thing. Despite growing up in the Columbus area, he hardly even recognizes that there is a team here. He set his wedding for the Michigan game. He sent out 300 invites for a huge wedding.

Less than 30 showed up. :slappy:

While I hate to say "I told you so" to anyone, he certainly deserved it.

Lets just say he hasn't done such a stupid thing ever again.

I know this may be hard to understand, but, some things are bigger than the OSU-scUM game. If she wants her "Big Day" on that day, then thats her choice. Don't go, but how do you think that will make her feel when like 7 people show up to the wedding.

And clearly a fucking homo if he letting her get away with this shit... though maybe he wants to spare himself the embarrassment of wacthing Meatchicken gettting their asses kicked...

It ought to make her feel like, "Shit, maybe I shouldn't have gotten married on the same day as the Michigan game..."

Also, this "Her Big Day" crap has gotten way the fuck out of hand... the people who go to weddings are guests... Is this how we treat guests in America now?

This is the first year since Tressel became coach that I will actually be here for the Game when it's at scUM. His first year I was in Florida for a football tournament. Two years ago I was in Florida again...but this time I was at Disney World with the rest of the High School marching band :(.

I think if it was my family doing that I would say screw the wedding...you can tape it
