Official Tour de France thread.

I keep watching every day, but I must say this has become rather boring. Beyond the prologue, there really hasn't been a point where Armstrong has had to come out and grab the race by the throat. He's been playing defense the whole time, and nobody's been able to touch him. I guess that's just another testament to his dominance and the brilliance of Johan Bruyneel. He's turned this year's tour into a leisurely victory lap around France.

I agree and was hoping to see him make a statemet in one of the mountain stages. In particular I thought last Sunday he would go for it after his old teammates widow asked him to win. The way the break aways have unfolded have killed him. Somebody new every day and by huge margins. The only way he can take the stage is to go out with them and if none of his rivals do he puts himself at risk. Basso, Ullrich, et al are really the ones who have controlled the tempo of the peloton by not taking risks themselves. Interesting sport this biking - levels of strategy that I never saw before.

Perhaps in the time trial he will get his stage. If I assume correctly he will go last behind Basso. Wonder if he can do to him what he did to Ullrich.

I am pretty sure Basso was in second last year on the final time trial that went up the Alpe d’Huez. I am almost positive Lance passed him on that one.

I think Lance will go for it in the last time trial. That time trial, in essense, will be the last race of his career and I'm sure he'll wanna crush the competition once more.

Oh, and I wonder if FUFRED saw that Lance got "randomly" tested for the second time in two weeks. You still think he's juicing?

I don't believe you'll receive a response from FUFRED - Mili justifiably banned him.

He passed him... a ways before the race was over too.... Basso isn't a very good time trial rider... I guess Rasmussen isn't either, so that's why they've still been covering Ullrich, because he is pretty good...

Anyway, I think Lance is definitely going to try to win it... I mean why wouldn't he... (Unless its raining or something... then he may not take risks). No one will attack on the last day... so its not like he needs to conserve his energy.... and as was mentioned... this is essentially his last race ever. (Man, I can't beleive its going to be over... that's bullshit)
