Official 2006 NCAA Tournament Discussion Thread

Well, Good news for BN27. Jerry McNamara split two defenders and made a runner, taking off from just outside the 3-point line, to beat Cincy 74-73 with a half-second left. Cincy's half-court heave bounced off the front of the rim at the buzzer. I think 'Cuse still needs to beat UConn tomorrow to get in.

And Cincy's a little closer to the bubble.

We're still in. THe only thing that would keep us out is if Bucknell, Nevada, and GW would all lose their conf. tournaments. As a UC fan, I feel comfortable that we're in. We came back from 13 points down only to have Gerry make a running 3 pointer. No shame in that, we're still in.

I don't know how UC can justify losing to Syracuse twice, having an equal conference record, and still getting in the tourny over Syracuse. I would take them over Syracuse....but that's because I'm a pissed off Orange fan who just wants this season to end. Who knows how the committee would look at it.

btw....I had to listen to 700WLW's internet feed for the first half of the game. Talk about homers. :2004:

Because our resume is much more impressive. We actually beat better teams on the road. Just because you beat us 2 out of 3 doesn't mean you're a tourney team. We've beaten Marquette, Syracuse, and Vanderbilt (who had a 22 game home winning streak at the time) all on the road. We also beat LSU on a neutral court basically without 1 starter who injured his shoulder in the first 5 minutes of the game.

SU, on the other hand, lost by 39 at DePaul, and has won 4 of their last 13 which is much worse than UC's. Don't tell me the committee will say that a 1 point loss doesn't mean any different than a 39 point loss to DePaul.

As for the whole situation, I feel very comfortable that UC is in. SU is squarely on the bubble though, but I would probably say they're in unless they get blown off the court against UConn then you might have another problem.

Anybody catch the end of the Monmouth-Fairleigh Dickinson game? Fairleigh was up one and allowed a wide open drive through the lane for a go ahead basket by Monmouth with 2.1 seconds left. Upon watching the replay, it was seen that the Monmouth player picked up his dribble at the free throw line, walked all the way across the line and then cut to the basket, without dribbling at all. Wow

wow.....did I hit a sore spot?

gotta love a resume that includes Syracuse (the team you're knocking for losing by 40 to god awful depaul) and Vanderbilt (it's Vanderbilt).

Well I am not sure what Louisville's resumme is good enough to get in or if they need to win some games, but they are sure playing like shit tonite.

They only had 5 pts. with 4 minutes or so left.

As I type this they cut the lead to 14 with 625 left and they are on a 18-5 run.

I don't think they have enough to come back tho.

The Lou has been out for a long time. Only an auto bid could get them in.

edit: holy crap they're down 11! I changed the channel after it took them 8 minutes to score 1 point.

I don't like either of these teams but I think it would be a nice comeback.

Pitt hasnt had a fg for over 10 minutes. It is probably working on 12 now. And they are still winning by DD. Just goes to show how bad Louisville played in the first half.

The announcers said that if Louisville gets invited to the NIT they don't know if they will accept. WTF do they think they are gods greatest gift to college bball or what. See what happens when you join a real conference.
