Truthfully, Hartline is maybe a 4th-5th rounder at this point....I just don't see where he's proven to be a first day draft pick...not to be harsh on a buckeye, but he has tro improve his speed and playmaKing ability
I don't see how he needs to improve these things... in my opinion it's more like he needs more opportunities to showcase them, because honestly I thought he had excellent playmaking ability against UW...

I can't agree w/ that.......Robo and Hartline both top 25 picks?

Ginn has a gear that hasn't been seen since Deion Sanders

Anthony Gonzalez is a perfect match for a system....if Indianpolis doesn't take him to replace Brandon Stokely, he doesn't go round 1

Robo is great, but lacks teh speed both Ginn and Gonzalez had....Robo has better hands than Ginn, buit Ginn was taken as a return man first, receiver second, after the influence Devin Hester had on the league

Notice that I say "pro prospects". Sadly, I don't think that Ginn will amount to more than a specialty player who makes a few flashy plays from time to time. His impact on the NFL has been minimal to date, he's not really even getting any reps as a WR.......something that is rare for a top 10 pick. Gonzo will be lost in the shuffle behind some fantastic receivers at Indy. Don't get me wrong, both guys are amazing players........but I am speaking from NFL potential.

Robo is already a polished receiver. His father is the WR coach at Miami, and the kid knows how to run crisp routes.......and get it done. He will have the most prolific year that an OSU receiver has ever had since the days of Terry Glenn. That is how strongly I feel about him, he is a great player. Hartline's motor never stops..........and I think that he could also go on to a better career than Gonzo or Ginn.

Keep in mind, I am speculating here..........but if people would have said that after Gonzo's first year he would be a first round pick........most would have laughed.

My advice........let the cards fall, and enjoy the ride. :wink2:

I think you're forgetting about David Boston's '98 campaign. Robo won't match those numbers. I do think he'll top 1,000 though.

Hartline is only a sophomore. I think he can develop into a 1st round prospect. He's got the size and speed that scouts drool over. If Robo does have the year we expect out of him, he'll be a 1st rounder and most likely leave which would thrust Hartline into the premiere spot next year and he'll have the benefit of playing with an experienced offense unlike this year.

Hartline brothers find success with Ohio State Buckeyes and Kentucky Wildcats

Friday, October 05, 2007Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus- Laurie Hartline might be the most successful college football mother in America. After last weekend, her two sons were a combined 10-0 on teams ranked No. 4 and No. 8 in the country.
Three years after a broken leg ruined the last high school season her sons had together at Canton GlenOak, Laurie Hartline has a secret. She's trying to find an easier way to watch her sons play on the same day, with Brian a starting receiver at Ohio State and Mike the No. 2 quarterback at Kentucky.
How about a bowl matchup between the Buckeyes and Wildcats?

Hartline, for one, not content with Buckeyes' play
Monday, October 8, 2007
By Todd Porter
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. In order to contend for a national title, Head Coach Jim Tressel has said the Buckeyes can't be content. Tressel probably liked the disgusted look on wide receiver Brian Hartline's face after the Buckeyes beat Purdue, 23-7, on Saturday night at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Hartline scored a touchdown and came close to having another during the win that moved the Buckeyes to No. 3 in the country behind top-ranked LSU and No. 2 California.

Hartline caught six passes for 64 yards and led Ohio State with 108 all-purpose yards. As he chatted with friends who made the short drive to Northwestern Indiana, he didn't look all that pleased.

Off topic, but I was just curious who the 5 wides were during that formation? I know it was Robo, Hartline and Dane. Who were the other 2? Small and ???

IIRC, it was Taurian Washington. Dukes did play in the game, but I don't think he was in the game on Hartline's TD.

On what it is like to play a midseason nonconference game

"We want to treat it the same way we treat every game. If we lose, we won't have the opportunity to play in the championship game. We want to go undefeated this season. When we start thinking Kent State is a second-tier team, we start hurting ourselves and that is not what we want to do."

On the wide receivers so far

"We are where I expected we would be. We keep growing and the passing game keeps getting better. We still need to work on consistency and focus on scoring for the team."

On his offensive identity and on the team's

"This year, we are not focused on just one guy. The running backs quarterbacks and wide receivers all play an important role and are on the same page. We want to spread the ball around and I think that is what we are doing so far. Personally, Todd (Boeckman) and I are on the same page and are constantly getting better together. Hopefully we'll get to the point where we make the big plays more often."

On the long road trip and coming back home

"For myself, I catch myself dragging when we first get back. After catching up on sleep and relaxing, it is usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays that I really start to get going again. It will be nice to get back to the 'Shoe again and play at home for a couple of weeks. It will be a good break from the travel for the team."
