And any way, we did not win last year just because of "SEC speed". We won because we generally controlled the lines of scrimmage, pressured Troy all night, stuffed y'all on Tress's uncharacteristically ill advised 4th and one, and our O line gave sufficient protection to Leak to allow him to dink and dunk you to death with little crossing routes to Harvin and company, all while your dbs were playing a passive five to ten yards back to avoid the big play....

While our defensive ends made you look like your linemen were wearing weights, it was not our skill speed that was the factor, imo...

I wholeheartedly agree on every observation except this one. It was four-and-two, and Beanie actually made the first down (barely) but got a bad spot and Tressel didn't challenge it (I was screaming at the TV once I saw the overhead replay had clearly showed he got past the line-to-gain).

Good point. Fourth and two is worse.:biggrin: As to the spot, I admit it was close, but my Gator eyes did not see the "clearly showed" part. Either way, it seemed to smack of desperation, and there was no reason why he should not have punted. If he fails, yet another gator short field quick six would have made it - what - 28-14? We'd showed that we could score from a short field twice, with Tebow doing his thing, so why risk it?

Gotta disagree. I was screaming at the field - before the play - "Stop 'em and done!" I mean, it was premature, but it would have solidified momentum that was already ours.

He largely ignored a surging Pittman all day, yet forced the issue with Beanie to a fault on that drive. Very strange, and un-tressel-like.

We fogot all losses are to be reased from memory. Thanks for the reminder.

Edit: If your original point was for this thread to get back on track you have an interesting, and by that I mean "not very good", way of pointing that out. Didn't feel the need to post something new about it though.

That was among the messages sent by the Ohio State wide receiver at the team's recent pre-bowl media scrum, where it became clear that while the Buckeyes prefer their new, underdog status going into this BCS title game against LSU, they're also sick and tired of hearing they have no business playing in it.

Wish Hartline could have explained what he meant more eloquently, but the ideas are correct..

I dont see anyone talking about how slow UT, South Carolina, or FSU are too slow after they get walloped by UF.. giving up huge play after huge play where UF players are running away from their guys..

Yet we lose to UF and it's cause we're slow.. just kinda silly and you expect more from analysts who get paid to breakdown these games for a living..

As I've said before, UF's speed was mainly on the edges with their DE's vs our 330 pound OTs.. i would expect them to run around those guys since they are more athletic and about 60 pounds lighter..

UF also exploited our defense by getting their WRs on our LBs.. I dont know of any LB in the country that can handle Percy Harvin or some of their other WRs in space..

Give kudos to their gameplan of creating that mismatch..

I blame Heacock for not adjusting, but in reality he had no trust in our starting DBs (outside of Malcolm), so it's not like we could have rolled out a couple more DBs to match their WRs.. So he went with the LBs and they got picked apart by the short passing game..

I think we're alot better off this yr, since we can roll out Jenkins, Washington, Chekwa, Russell, Coleman, and O'Neal and Heacock has alot of trust in every one of those kids..

But hey, we're not playing UF again, so it doesnt really matter.. it's just good to know that I think we have all the pieces in place this year to adapt to whatever the opposition throws at us and we're alot more versatile on defense due to great depth at all positions..
