OC Arthur Smith (Official Thread)

Y'all deluding yourselves into a wait and see approach are gonna need to ask permission at the pitch fork store. This is a terrible hire and is nothing like Patricia. He is terrible and has been terrible at every stop.

You know how we hired Tim Beck and Nebraska fan came over and told us we were in trouble and everyone was like "No, trust the coaches. He keeps getting hired so he must be ok"? And you know how we know better now but we're all still flummoxed at how Tim Beck is still getting work? Arthur Smith is worse than Tim Beck.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not, but the Squeelers scored 24 TDs in like 2022. They scored 41 in 2025. With a shitty OL, a mental WR, no RBs, and a QB who's 137 years old.

If that dude can take an offense that was as bad as Shittsburgh's offense was two years ago and nearly double their scoring output, he's a damn good OC.

Not to mention, he got Ryan freaking Tannehill into the Pro Bowl. He will have more talent at Ohio State than he had in Shittsburgh or Atlanta.

You can let the numbers lie to you all you want. If you watched that Steelers offense and came away thinking it was even remotely impressive then I don't know how to help you. A college football offense in 2026 should not be centered around 83 different TEs. Especially one with Jeremiah Smith.

The guy had Bijan Robinson and couldn't figure it out. He's a fucking clown.

Kevin Wilson couldn't get it done at Hoosiers; Chip Kelly sucked at the NFL; Hartline was so green that ...;

I guess I'm not sure what my point is, other than everyone has some baggage.

I don't know much about Arthur Smith. Here is what we do know:
- He doesn't need to recruit, so he can focus on offense.
- He did have some good numbers on offensive production.
- He worked with Vrable, so if he is really as terrible as he was, Day should be informed.

I didn't know about Patricia before he was hired. His interviews made me hopeful because he clearly showed his enthusiasm for and knowledge of the game. Haven't watched Arthur Smith yet, so we'll see.

Similar to Patricia's situation, the criticism and resentment may be helpful because the pressure can make people focus and produce.

As a fan, I'm hopeful (to be fair, I have been hopeful in Day's case for quite a while. The only decision I wasn't supportive of was the hiring of Colmbs as DC) with a 43 yd professional who has ups and downs in the highest level of the game.
