OBSERVATIONS FROM A MICHIGAN PARTY

great read.

In my parallel universe, it's a Lazy Boy, not a Barcalounger.

And wives?? They are just not allowed.

They went to the craft show.

As I said in another thread, I moved a couple years ago and my new family room is undefeated. Should have watched the NC game there, I guess. And for Illinois I was at Maumee Bay State Park, in the lounge.

I hope my wife understands that I have to be at home from now on for OSU games.

My daughter is talking about getting married in November 2008. I told her if it's a game day I'll be watching the game so just plan around it!

Let's hope Oh8ch is right, too, about MSU, Illinois and scUM all being tougher. We need a dominant Big Ten.

It starts in the Bowl season.

Go Bucks!

And oh by the way:

Yes, I was thanking God for Jim Tressel while watching Arizona try desperately to gack away a game that had fallen in their lap.

Yes, I was saying "Let's GO! Let's SCORE!" late in the first half of The Game.

As I've said before; JT has the job that all of us value above all others (unless you don't like a challenge) because he is smarter than we are. Whether he is smarter while sitting in front of a computer is not the question; he is smarter when the lights are the brightest and the pressure is highest and when things are happening too fast-and-furious for any but the most composed and in-control to truly shine.

The other antithesis of Tressel-ball in Mike Leach. I was watching TTech against Oklahoma on Saturday night, and with a 34-13 lead with about 30 seconds to go in the third quarter, first and goal at the 6-yard line, his QB throws a pick. They ended up having to make 2 4th-down stops in the red zone, and recover an on-side kick to hold on 34-27.

Excellent post. I have recently returned to Ohio after living "abroad" for many years. So we have started some traditions of our own. We go to a friends house - myself, daughter, brother and friends (husband and wife). We all bring food eat before we watch the game. I buy something new to wear, this year a new ball hat. Yelling at the TV is greatly encouraged. Throwing things is allowed as long as you don't break anything important or hit the dog.

Last year we gathered for the NC game and you know how that turned out. So after The Game this year I said we could not get together for the Rose Bowl as we don't want to ruin it. Unfortunately I was outvoted so we are gathering again to watch that. If we (God forbid) loose then I will make sure we never get together for a bowl game again.

We went to watch at a sports bar up the street from our place, but it was WAY to loud and carnival-like. Kids, wives, even GUYS who clearly didn't understand the importance of The Game and compliance with the rules. Left and went to a pub across the courtyard from the bar. No one was outside except a lone scUM fan on a first date with another scalUMnus (seriously, how great was that?). We sat and watched in reverent silence (except when they called back Small's return at which point I stood up and yelled, "FUCK ME! Goddamnit!" Which is different, I hasten to add, from yelling, "Fuck me, goddamnit!". Fortunately, for those of you familiar with Atlanta, we weren't in Midtown where the subtle semantic distinction may not have been fully appreciated.) Of course, all was put right even before The Next Mrs. Rugby finished catisgating (castrating?) me for my profane outburst as Beanie almost immediately put this year's Game away for good.

Go Bucks and thanks for the memories, at least the recent ones, LLLLOYD.

Oh8ch, my wife is too scared to invite people in for OSU games (something I'm not necessarily proud of) In tense situations, heaven forbid a loss, think of an Ogre (not Shrek) with an ingrown toenail, an acute case of hemroids and a case of male pms, and you have a very watered down version of my reaction. Well maybe not quite so bad, take out the ingrown toenail

Yeah I got typing faster than I was thinking. I hate that they play the bowls in the next year it always messes me up. Does the same thing with the Super bowl too.

:io:

it was only five years ago. it was the 2002 season, and the Fiesta Bowl was played on 1/3/03.
