<!--endclickprintexclude-->AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) -- Bears killed and devoured a monkey in front of horrified visitors at a Dutch zoo, officials and witnesses said.
Visitors reported that the grisly scene began as several bears chased the monkey, a macaque, onto a wooden structure at Beekse Bergen Safari Park.
They said a bear tried unsuccessfully to shake the monkey loose, ignoring attempts by keepers to distract it. The bear then climbed up and grabbed the monkey, mauling it to death and bringing it to its concrete den, where three bears ate it.
The park confirmed the killing. "The habitats here in the safari park are arranged in such a way that one animal almost never kills another, but they are and remain wild animals," it said in a statement.
The attack occurred in an area of the zoo that contains both monkeys and sloth bears, a type of black bear found in the Asian subcontinent.
The park said it plans now to move the macaques to another part of the park.

What do the zoo visitors think actually happens in the wild? That the bears order Dominos?
I feel sorry for the monkey, but probably a good thing for humans to be reminded that even zoo animals are still animals. When you see a bear in the wild and think "oh, how cute" just remember he is seeing you and thinking "lunch".

Exactly why I don't get why after that bear killed that little girl they went out to hunt it down and kill it. Hello people what do you think was going to happen? The bear was hibernating all winter wakes up and is hungry. You go on a nature hike in an area that is known to be populated by bears and then blame the bear for your mistake. Yes I feel sorry for the little girl and her family but shouldn't common sense tell you not to go out there to begin with.

In an example to show just how fucked up my mind is I was thinking it would be cool for a zoo to create an exhibit for humans. You basically get a few babies and raise them similar to how you raise monkeys in a zoo. They would need to have the zoo employees wear cloths so that the kids couldn’t see that they look the same as their keepers. What would humans be like if they were raised without language or education? I think it would be kind of funny seeing a bunch of people running around a monkey type of exhibit at the zoo. Or maybe I just need to lay off the paint chips. :p<O:p</O:p
