    Buckeyes lose Game 1 8-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Ohio State baseball team dropped its series-opening contest at Northwestern, 8-0, Saturday at Rocky Miller Park. With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 30-14, 12-7 in Big Ten play, while the Wildcats move to 20-18, 8-11 in the conference.
After the Buckeyes put two on with one out but couldn?t get on the board against Northwestern starter Luke Farrell in the top of the second, the Wildcats threatened against Ohio State starter Brad Goldberg in the bottom of the frame. A single, a walk and a hit batter loaded the bases with one down before a walk to Walker Moses scored Scott Heelan for the first run of the game. Trevor Stevens then singled to left to score a run and Kyle Ruchim doubled to left to clear the bases to push the Northwestern lead to 5-0. After Goldberg was able to get Zach Morton to fly out to right for the second out of the inning, Jack Havey singled to left to score Ruchim and extend the lead to 6-0 after two innings of play.
Three singles and a hit batter plated another run for the Wildcats and chased Goldberg with the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the fourth. Ryan Riga then came on and struck out the first two batters he faced before getting a groundout to get out of the inning with the Buckeyes down 7-0.

Northwestern responded with a run of its own off Ohio State starter Brian King in the bottom of the frame. Buckeyes win Game 3 and Series 6-2

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Ohio State baseball team topped Northwestern, 6-2, in the rubber game of its three-game set Monday at Rocky Miller Park. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 32-14, 14-7 in the Big Ten, while the Wildcats fall to 20-20, 8-13 in conference play.
Northwestern took the lead with a pair of runs off Ohio State starter Jaron Long in the bottom of the second. Jack Havey and Scott Heelan each walked to start the inning and, after a fielder?s choice on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Zach Jones and a groundout by Luke Dauch put runners on second and third with two down, Nick Linne looped a two-run single to center to plate Heelan and Jones to give the Wildcats the 2-0 lead after two innings.
The Buckeyes weren?t able to put much together against Northwestern starter Zach Morton until the top of the fifth. Jacob Bosiokovic and Mike Carroll each walked to lead off the inning but Aaron Gretz bunted into a fielder?s choice as Bosiokovic was out at third and Tim Wetzel lined to first for a double play to end the inning.
