Close call there for the Bucks. Games like last night are ones I think you can't aford to drop in the conference when you've got Wimmers going against a bad team. Way to come back though and pick him up even when he didn't have his best stuff!

Baseball: Miller's slump is ending at good time
    Sunday, April 26, 2009 3:20 AM
    By Mark Znidar

Ohio State third baseman Justin Miller did a double take when told that he was on deck needing a triple to hit for the cycle when the eighth inning ended.

"I didn't even know that," he said.

Miller, who had a career day against Northwestern with a grand slam in the first inning, a sacrifice bunt in the second, a two-run double in the fifth and a single in the seventh, quickly regained his senses.
"I don't feel bad because I've had one triple since I've been here," he said. "It wouldn't have been likely."

It was rewarding enough for Miller that he continued to break out of a prolonged slump in leading the Buckeyes to an 11-7 victory over the Wildcats yesterday in Bill Davis Stadium.

How big of a swoon has it been?

Miller, a senior from Dayton, Va., raised his average to .290 and is still batting 58 points less than his career average.

The good news is Ohio State (31-9, 11-3), which remained in first place in the Big Ten, might be getting its biggest run producer into step for the stretch run.

    Buckeyes drop Series Finale

COLUMBUS, Ohio. - Ohio State did not capitalize on two bases loaded situations early in the game and Northwestern put the game away with four runs in the sixth inning to defeat No. 24 Ohio State, 10-6, Sunday at Bill Davis Stadium. Despite the loss, Ohio State wins the series, 2-1, and is in a first-place in the Big Ten with an 11-4 record. The Buckeyes are 31-10 overall
Eight Buckeye runners were left stranded on base in the third through fifth innings, keeping the home team from cutting into 3-1 and 3-2 Northwestern leads at the time.
"We were our own worst enemy," Ohio State coach Bob Todd said. "One time I looked up and we had three hits in an inning but only one run.
"Winning two-of-three is a good weekend, though. You can?t worry about the ramifications of losing a game today because there will be other losses in the Big Ten by us and by other teams."
