Northwest area move

I am thinking about moving to the Seattle area and staying. But I have never been there, it just looks nice to me. The family wants to be near a big city, I am a runner and outdoors person. Good schools and cultural activities to participate in are #1 on our list. We like snow and the cold. Really, if taxes on homes were not 12K-16K a year plus, we would move to upstate New York. That is the kind of culture and climate we would enjoy. Does anyone live around the Seattle area or has lived there? I want your opinion.

What do/did you like about the area? What don't you like?

We have friends who have moved to Sequim which is fairly close to Seattle.

Not as rainy as the rest of the area.

What do/did you like about the area? What don't you like?

I have a few buddies out there. Check out Issaquah, Renton, Mill Creek, and Shoreline areas. Seattle Center is decent as well. But Shoreline might be the one to venture further into.
