The G.O.A.T.
http://highschoolsports.cleveland.c...son-poll-for-2012-season-by-the-plain-dealer/

With the kickoff starting tonight, thought I'd drop the link for the Plain Dealer's top 25.

1. St. Ignatius
2. Solon
3. Mentor
4. St. Edwards
5. Hudson

Little high for Hudson to start but it'll be an interesting year to see if Iggy's can repeat and if Glenville can return to the playoffs again this year. Solon has a lot of firepower so if they can finally get over the hump that'd make for a pretty big surprise.

I'll take Iggy's for the repeat though....that defense is going to be awfully good.

Some updates from last night....

Boom, whack, thud....Tarblooders roll all over Solon, 40-17. Junior WR Marshon Lattimore erupted for 4 TD's

Mentor, led by Mitch Trubisky's 4th quarter heroics, defeats Erie (Pa.) McDowell in PA with a 34-27 via a 15-0 4th quarter.

St. Ignatius is playing Warren De La Salle, led by Shane Morris in Parma at Byers Stadium at 3 PM today.

Iggy beating up on Mentor 31-7 at half. Trubisky being pressured every play and Mentor is just physically outmatched. LeManna having a heck of a game so far.

I don't see anyone outside of maybe Glenville or Eds giving Iggy much of a game this year up here in the NE.

edit: Final of 45-21. Mentor had it deep inside Iggy territory at the end of the 3rd quarter down 38-21 with some momentum but Trubisky (who, IMO played a pretty solid game overall) made his only big mistake of the game and thew an INT over the middle at the goal line (Linebacker made a great play on the ball). That kinda deflated things for Mentor as Iggy then drove down and scored and that was it basically.

Iggy is a pretty solid team all around. McVey can really pound the rock, LaManna has a pretty good arm, and that defense is physical. Mentor was certainly overmatched but made it competitive for a bit there in the 2nd half with Trubisky just clawing and scrapping to keep them in the game.

The St. Eds/Iggy game at the end of the year is definitely going to be a good one, as well as the St X/Iggy game just a couple weeks prior to.
