I have a daughter that is going to be six in April, and it's high time to start researching a curriculum for homeschooling. My wife was homeschooled all her life, and we've made the decision to do the same for our children (at least, until they get to the teens).

I wanted to ask if anyone has come across a non-religious homeschooling curriculum that they really liked?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
 
A very close friend of mine has homeschooled her three kids their whole lives. One is 13, one is 11 and the youngest is 7. They have never attended a public school. I will try to get some info from her this afternoon for you.

I don't recall mentioning this any time before, but my wife and I ended up enrolling my daughter in the Oregon Connections Academy as a kindergartener.

Interestingly enough, this could come to an end in the near future depending upon what is done by the Oregon Department of Education:

Oregon?s largest charter school doesn?t have a building. It doesn?t have any classrooms. Yet it has four times as many students as the town it?s based in.
The Oregon Connections Academy is based in Scio. It reaches home-schooled kids all over Oregon. And it operates on-line.
But as Rob Manning reports, the school?s rapid growth may be in doubt, as the State Board of Education looks at the school?s future Thursday.

I've joined a Parents Association in order to be a voice in this matter. The ORCA thus far has served my daughter VERY well. She's enjoyed the experience, the learning, and has even excelled. She was given the opportunity to take some electives, because she was doing well. I never would have guessed, but she choose Chess and Sign Language. The chess was a little advanced, but it gives us something to do together. The Sign Language has been magnificent. (I should note that my wife is her Learning Coach for the non-electives, whereas, I coach the electives) The experience for she and I have been absolutely wonderful.

Personally, I think the ORCA provides quite a service. I would be disappointed to see it go.
