Strikeout king treated for pre-existing condition

ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) -- Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was hospitalized Friday and in good condition with an undisclosed ailment, his son said.

The 59-year-old strikeout king checked into Round Rock Medical Center for treatment of recurring symptoms from a pre-existing medical condition, Reid Ryan said.

Reid Ryan declined to specify the condition, but said it was discovered when his father had double-bypass heart surgery in 2000.
"This is something I've lived with for the last seven years," Nolan Ryan said in a statement.

His son said it was not an emergency.
I'm glad he's ok.....I'm guessing he could still go out and kick the crap out of Robin Ventura....

He is a great guy. Last year, before my wife and I moved to Charlotte, NC, we lived in Austin, TX. We went to a few Round Rock Express games. Nolan would walk around and talk to fans all the time. I meet him a couple of times and got an autograph. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever meet. I hope he does well and makes a quick recovery.

I met Nolan Ryan at an Orioles game in 1992. Of course I was only 11 at the time so I'm sure my jaw just dropped, but I still have his autograph

Very nice guy, even took the time to ask what positions I played....
