Outstanding! Now, for the slick part...do something nice for her in return. That way, she'll think she's getting the good part of the deal. You know how the best leaders are those that can tell you to go to hell and make you look forward to the trip? Well, the same principle applies here. If you make her feel good about letting you have your way in this important matter, it'll make it a lot easier down the road when you again want something.

Thanks for the advice bro!

Thank goodness the Sept. 11 game is a 3:30... a college roommate is getting married that day... the wedding is at 12:00 so I'll be out of there before kickoff. The reception begins around 7:00 or 7:30 (so we might be a little late to the reception)....

Tell everyone you have an STD, and that you will need bed rest all of Saturday. Works every time!!!

 :chompy:     That is fucking priceless!

Anyhow, congrats Matz....I'm glad to see that you are a genuine man. That would of gotten the wedding planning off on the wrong foot, take it from me, I just got married. You must lay down the law early, or you'll be wearing cotton panties (although I have heard that they are quite comfortable  ) for the rest of your marriage. If you didn't step in here, she would have slowly taken your liberty away.

What kind of jerkoff has a wedding at noon, and the reception at 7?

Did it say on the invitation that they 'cordially invited you to ruin 15 hours of your life on an a gameday?' :wink2:

Dangit and I need two more tickets for the Marshall game...LOL Looks like StoneCold beat me to the question.

I was in one of my best friend's wedding the day of a OSU-PSU game at Happy Valley back in I think 97' and we had a TV in the groom's waiting room, the pastor gave the halftime score during the ceremony, TV's instantly on at Foxfire Golf Club in the Reception room and we all watched it til the end on the father of the bride's handheld TV.

I would tell everyone right up front that you will, at the very least, have a small radio wired through your dress shirt into one of your ears with the game on.

I just got married July 31st, thank goodness I didn't have an engagement party (or an STD). Anyways for all you experienced married guys I need help. I'm having a tough time (and have since we've been together) just getting together with my friends let alone listening to or watching the Indian's games. Any advice on how to straighten her out. Does it get worse??

As far as the buckeyes games go though she doesn't even try to interfer with that, she knows better.

The question is-why in the hell can't you at least watch the game during the party. Are her/your male relatives such hosebags that they wouldn't want to see the game on TV!?!? If you give up your game tickets, you are banking a big one for later, which could be a good idea-it's not like it's a key Big 10 game or Texas. You have to tell her that the TV will be on-and spread the word to every male who will be attending the party. If they don't want to raise a ruckus about the game not being on, that's one weird family.

My guess is you should be doing other things other than going out with your friends and watching Tribe games

Seriously though, sounds like you still think you're single. For the most part once you get married you pretty much forfeit going out with the guys - depends on what you're trying to do though. An afternoon round of golf on the weekend you might be able to swing (ugh). But from the looks of it, you work a full-time job (I'm assuming), you come home, flip on the Tribe game, then the weekend comes and you want to hang out with your buds. Doesn't work that way compadre.

the question is....why did you give your balls away so easily......jesus...that was the first test of your future marriage....and you bent over that easy....it only gets tougher from here out...

why in the hell do women try to take away what we like???? they only make themselves look stupid in doing soo......

anyways...what mili said was dead on.....do something great for her on fridays with the understanding that your saturdays are then free for football.....heck...if shes a great girl she may actually try to watch the game with you in the future...

Same here bro, sounds like you need to lay the smack down as far as a tribe game goes.

My wife is bombass, she has already volunteered to take my buddies and I down to the stadium and drop us off before games, then pick us up when we call her afterwards.

You guys hit it best when you said to do something nice on Friday. Take her to a nice dinner and stick it in her.........works every time. Saturday will by yours!

An added advantage for me is that my wife got a teaching job this year, so she is so overconsumed (setting up her classroom) with it that I have spare time for PS2, beer, or whatever.

Explain the importance of Buckeye Football (meanwhile establishing ground rules for future seasons) and politely decline that weekend. Make arrangements to do the party on a Sunday or Thursday evening. When mother-in-law gives you the "it's just a game" look, don't back down. Look at her like you are dead serious and missing a Buckeye game is not a joke.

OK, good luck.
