If Jarrett were at OSU, Ginn would have never moved to WR. That would be my argument.

Mine as well...if we had another remarkable WR like Jarrett then we wouldn't have needed Ginn at WR in the first place

First lets get a few things straight about the national champions:
  1. Matt Lienhart is a joke
  2. only major player of mention Reggie Bush
  3. this team almost lost to cal and oregon st.
  4. there are in the a joke of a confr. pac 10
1. Matt Leinhart is NOT a joke, he is a proven QB who is about to challenge Archie for a second heisman
2. I'm not even going to get into this one...not worth it
3. Last time I checked Cal was a quality team who just might have been spear-headed by Texas for the Rose Bowl spot
4. The Pac-10 is definitely in a slump, but I think calling the conference a joke is incorrect

Doesn't look like Oregon is going to be a serious threat to SC this year. If you can get your QB 4 seconds to throw, you can throw it right over top of them.

Houston's QB has looked like Benny R for much of this game, until they couldn't kick a 20 yard FG.

I'd agree that is a distinct possibility. Good point

Using all caps really makes you sound smarter, so please keep doing it.

Guess what? Virginia Tech was one of the best teams in the nation last year, and they had an incredibly stout defense. And they beat them last year.

I've railed on the Pac10 too, but you obviously don't know much about conferences if you would even consider them below the Big East (which Louisville was not in until this year).

Just because you don't know anything about USC's roster doesn't mean the players aren't fantastic. Leinart, White, Bush, Jarrett, Byrd just to name a few, are among the best (if not #1) at their position. Opinions vary, but nobody thinks they aren't talented and headed for big NFL contracts.

We lost four freaking games last year, including to Northwestern, who is far worse than Cal. We have zero room to badmouth a team that has gotten it done for three straight years. I still think its bull they didn't play LSU (OU had no business in that game either year, and I felt that way beforehand both times)... but they finished quite well in 2002, and great in 2003 & 2004.

considering the way that the Pac Ten Champs have finished the season for the last few seasons, compared to the big xii Champs, there is a strong argument to be made that the Pac Ten is better than the Big xii... no need to mention the big east, as it's three strongest programs are gone...

case in point:
'01 big xii champ Colorado gets torched by Pac Ten Champ Oregon
'01 big xii runner up loses to Big East Miami
'02 pac ten co-champ USC beats big ten co-champ Iowa
'02 pac ten co-champ WSU loses to big xii champ OU
'02 Big Ten Champ Ohio State beats big east Champ Miami
'03 big xii champ loses to Big Ten runner up Ohio State
'03 big xii runner up loses to SEC champ LSU
'04 big xii champ OU gets run off the field by Pac Ten champ USC
'04 big xii south runner up beats Big Ten champ scUM

'04 of course the major thorn in this argument is that big xii south 3rd place TexTech beats pac ten runner up Cal, but there were most certainly extenuating circumstances...

as for which conference is stronger at the top:
over the last four seasons, in head to head BCS matchups, the Pac Ten has a 2-1 advantage, and a better overall winning percentage...

Pac Ten is 3-1 (.750)
big xii is 2-5 (.400)

you do the math...

edit: LMAO... i forgot to say how stupid it is to go on a rant about a team that has a record of 36-1 over the last three seasons... i don't care WHO you play, when you put up numbers like that, you are badass... period.

now, if you want to make the argument that USC should have played LSU in '03 and Auburn- or even Utah- in '04, then you certainly have a point... but to just shout your opinion, without any factual evidence to back it up is foolish to say the least...

Anyone who says USC isn't worthy, loses credibility.

My point has always been that you cannot just summarily dismiss the SEC champion if they don't get a chance to play head to head. It's got nothing to do with the Pac10's realitive strength or weakness, its all about Auburn and the historical precedent of split NC's. Chief among them, what the AP writers did in 2003.

I think sports writers are just a small notch above child molesters on the worthless human scale but after the hypocrisy they've shown over the past 2 years in regards to USC I'm rethinking my rankings.

My 2 cents: (Or 3 cents. Or.. wait.. who took my money?)

First, I think USC is overrated.
Second, (and I know this will confuse some people who have read my first point) I think USC is the best team in the country.

How can I say those two statements, one, after the other? Easy. With the way many people in the media (no, I don't have names or dates or whatever else you want as proof) talks about USC, I get the feeling the USC should have won the national championship, already, as well as a couple of super bowls, possibly the Tour De France, the US Open, the next 5 World Series of Poker, and a couple of America's cups. After lunch, they should be able to colonize Mars, defeat the evil Insectoid invaders, and then cure all depression in the universe.

I don't think USC deserves all of their hype. But maybe it's not so bad. They higher they climb, the harder they'll fall.

BuckeyesKickButtocks,
I think you are wrong here (i.e. The NCAA did not adopt the BCS). The NCAA does not conduct a national championship in Division 1-A football.

Fair enough - but I direct your attention to this part of your post:

Since 1998, the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) operated jointly by the ACC, Southeastern, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten and Pacific-10 Conferences has used a ranking system to determine the number one and number two teams at the end of the season. These two teams play each other in a post-season bowl game for the BCS national championship.

The interested parties agree that the BCS is the "true" champion - if you will.
