11W - Being recruited to Ohio State as a TE, but some other teams are offering him as an OT (Picard has the body type, background, and athletic ability that Iowa traditionally excels with at OT). Made an unofficial visit to Columbus today. Urban told Jake that he wants him to come-in for one of OSU's 1-day camps to evaluate how he catches and runs routes, and told him they love how he blocks.

Offers from Louisville, Virginia, Boston College, Purdue, Rutgers, Cincinnati, & Temple with Ohio State, TSUN, & Penn State showing interest. Will unofficially visit PSU for their spring game on 4/12. No leader.

@Birm: NJ 2015 TE Jake Picard (@JakePickard2015) has been offered by #Oregon #Ducks - will camp at #OhioState on 6/21

Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 7/1
Finally, '15 TE/DE Jake Pickard (Millburn, New Jersey) will also be attending Friday Night Lights on July 25th, and while the three star tight end doesn't yet have an offer from Ohio State, expect that to change in the next few weeks or so. If the Buckeyes do offer Pickard, there's a good chance they could take the lead or at least be in the running for his services. The 6'6, 231-pounder is currently projected to be heading to Boston College (61 percent) over Purdue (28 percent) and Oregon (11 percent).

Pickard holds offers from Boston College, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Purdue, Rutgers, and Virginia. He's also drawing interest from teams such as Alabama, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin.

NJ.com Top 50 football recruit profile: Jake Pickard
Name: Jake Pickard School: Millburn (N.J.)Position: Tight End/Defensive TackleHeight/Weight: 6-6, 234 Class: 2015 Feb.7: 48 June 2: 26

Attributes: Pickard, who has an 84-inch wing span, played offensive and defensive tackle at Millburn in 2013, but projects to the tight end and defensive end positions at the next level. His combination of length and athleticism has earned him upwards of 20 suitors going into his final high school football season.

Pickard plays with more functional strength than his frame would imply and keeps his opposition at the end of his length. On the offensive side of the football, he generates good initial pop and locks onto defenders during passing downs, never allowing them to get to his body. Defensively, he has a quick get-off and plays with good leg drive and pad level.

Synopsis: Pickard is ranked No. 26 in the June 2 edition of the NJ.com Top 50, making the third-largest jump of any prospect on the list. He holds offers from Rutgers, Oregon, Virginia, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Boston College, Louisville, Purdue, Syracuse, Illinois, Cincinnati, UConn and Temple. Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State have also shown significant interest.

Recruit capsule: Jake Pickard
• Frame - 8.5
• Run Defense - 7.5
• Pass Catching - 8
• Blocking - 8.5
• Team 1st Attitude- 10

Accolades: 2013 Second Team All-Super Essex Conference Liberty Division Defense; No. 26 in the NJ.com Top 50 (June 2); Named a top junior in Essex County for 2013, via the Star-Ledger

2013 Statistics: In 10 games,Pickard accumulated 70 total tackles and 2.5 sacks on defense as well as countless pancake blocks from his offensive tackle post, where he mauled defenders. He also deflected one pass, caused a fumble, recovered three fumbles and blocked three field goals. And when he wasn't doing that, he was punting – 31 times for a 40.42 yard average, including 12 which landed inside the 20-yard line.

Pickard's Millburn Millers finished the season 4-6 (2-5). After a slow start to the year, they closed it out on a three-game winning streak, including a 35-26 defeat of the Madison (N.J.) Dodgers, the three-time defending NJSIAA North 2, Group 2 sectional champions.

Rutgers offer? Yes. The Scarlet Knights offered Pickard March 10, during unofficial visitors' weekend, where he was accompanied by his mother and father. Defensive coordinator Joe Rossi is his primary recruiter.

Coach's comments: "Jake means an awful lot to our program. The strides he's taken the past 12 months and what he was able to do for us as an unselfish measure last year as a junior can't be described in words. For a kid who has played tight end and d-end his entire life, to be asked to play two new positions out of necessity for the team and never asking why, just strictly responding, 'Alright coach, if I have to move there in order for us to win, that's what I'm gonna do.' I mean, to have a 16-year old kid do that and say those things without having any influence and understanding the reason he had to move there is remarkable. Jake is a true captain of our program and we are lucky to have him." – Millburn head coach Patrick Leonardis
