Yeah I'm perfectly good with Bowen's approach recruiting at OL. We're casting a wider net and not botching the national recruiting, but I do hope we start doing better at getting worthwhile OL portal targets. Really like this offer, hopefully the offer puts us in the thick of his recruitment.Nobody can complain that the OL coach isn't going after size, or number of commitments. Would agree that giving mega-millions to an untested LOT out of HS is foolishness.
Its all relative, in what deems is the "best OL guys in the Portal". Guys like Josh Simmons, Philip Daniels and Seth McLaughlin weren't considered the best in their Portal classes, but they worked out great for the Buckeyes. And the best guys are relative to the needs, because none of the sites know how to rank transfers. And they're left ranking them based off either what they just did at a school or what their HS ranking was. Of all position groups, OL is the biggest crapshoot of them all, in the Portal and with HS recruitsStack up enough OL cordwood, and in two-three years, hopefully someone stands out. Not a terribly unique plan, and when it works, great. When it doesn't, need a QB that can scramble. Also seems like the apparent OL studs visit tOSU, hear their pitch, and compare with what other schools have (to give?), and go elsewhere. Just may be me, but don't see the best OL guys in the portal, and if are, don't sign with tOSU.
