NIUhuskie (Split from the NIU Game thread)

As (I'm Guessing) the only NIU grad that is also a buckeye fan that has been here for awhile, let me say this... "my fellow NIU fans....

If by BG you mean Bowling Green, we didn't play them last year.

I can see how much you watch us.

Sorry, you are right. I don't know what I was thinking--it was W. Michigan. I remembered watching you guys pound someone the day before Thanksgiving.

Ahh yes, you keep proving my point that you are a dumbass.

I respect your program, but I certainly don't respect you.

Please stop with the name calling already, though. It's very childish. And for what it's worth, coming to our site and using obscenities against our members doesn't exactly help you gain any respect.

Oh no! Now you're taking cracks at my NIU education! Please no! Stop! Mommy!!! Listen up, NIU graduates more student athletes than OSU does. What does that say of OSU athletes?
OK, even though this post is a month old, I'm going to respond to it anyhow. I dunno, I guess I'm just too interested in *facts* to let this one slide.

According to the recently published 2005 NCAA Graduation-Rates Reports for NCAA Division I Schools, Ohio State's and Northern Illinois' incoming freshman classes for the 1998-1999 school year ultimately completed their educations like so:

NIU OSU

Graduation Rate (All Students %) 51% 62%
Graduation Rate (Student-Athletes %) 67% 61%

Four-Class Average (All Students %) 51% 60%
Four-Class Average (Student-Athletes %) 65% 62%

Student-Athlete Graduation Success Rate 77% 78%

Total Freshman Rate (All Students N) 2818 6151
Total Freshman Rate (Student-Athletes N) 66 101

Got it? So, 'listen up,' OSU ultimately graduated 101 student-athletes who enrolled as freshmen for the incoming 98-99 school year, which accounted for 78% of the total student-athlete class for that period, allowing for exits from transfers. NIU, however, graduated 66 student-athletes for a 77% mark.

What does it mean? It means OSU is a great big honkin' state school with the largest athletics department in the country, so of course OSU graduates more SAs than any MAC school ever would, or could. What is more alarming though is the non-student-athlete numbers between the two. NIU at only 51%? You should be ashamed!

Will you give it a rest with the great posts, Dry? I gave you rep at 6:38 this morning for crying out loud. You probably get less positive rep per great post than anyone, because you do it too often.

Plus, you're making the rest of us look bad.

the funny part is that the grad rates will surely get better as the years progress, as the academic performances (gpa) in recent years have regularly improved.
