NIU Alum - Life long OSU fan -- talk about conflicted!

I would never tell someone else who to cheer for, but there is no way I personally would EVER pull for anyone over my alma mater. Just unconscionable. Not even close.

Problem for me is 25-30 years of pulling for OSU or 7-8 years pulling for NIU. It just wasn't that easy for me. I was hoping NIU played great, but I will say this: I am damn glad that game is over and hopefully won't have to endure this game ever again! GO NIU - GO OSU

As a Miami University grad it was always a no-brainer for me. I rooted for tOSU with my entire heart every time(even when Miami might have had a chance with Big Ben). I was only conflicted in hockey season, during which I found myself quietly watching the game, unable to root for either team.

I guess with having a Grandfather who played for Woody coupled with going to games at a young age (seeing Eddie George run the ball, etc)...it is an easy choice.

i hear ya, man. its tough when your alma mater plays your favorite team from your youth. miami has played osu twice in my lifetime... once in 2000 (mu should've won that one), and again last year.

i have so many great memories of my time at miami. my best friends were classmates of mine...we made road trips for football games and for the sweet 16 back in 1999...we've been in each other's weddings, etc. all of this happened because of our connection with mu.

with absolutely no offense to osu, its just not the same. osu (or any other school) will never be able to do what my alma mater has done for me. of course i know that miami has virtually no chance of ever winning a nat'l title in football, but the aforementioned sentimental reasons lead me to never root against my school.. no matter who they are playing.
