We saw them at Hara in dayton back in '95 or '96. Great show. The initial lineup was Marilyn Manson and NIN but that show got postponed when his dog died. The re-scheduled show had the Jim Rose Circus as the opener.

I still recall one of my idiot roommates in undergrad being all excited about this "new band." It was the summer of 93 and he was telling me all about this great new band and he loved their new single so much he bought the CD. The song was "Head Like a Hole." The local radio station he listened to had a new DJ who played it often as "new music." The roommate was always trying to impress me with his music tastes.

Too bad that slowbie DJ was playing 3+ year old songs as new music...

Yeah, when I told him I heard it back in late 89/early 90 when it was new he was pretty pissed. I heard it early because I had a friend who was in the Cleveland music scene and knew some guys close to Trent Reznor.

Not that early... I remember hearing it for sure in early 91, if not before... by '93 Broken (and its evil twin, Fixed) were already out... (I was playing this-- Head like a hole-- as a DJ in late '91 and everyone knew what it was... even drunk sorority girls--- especially drunk sorority girls)

When did downward Spiral Come out? Not real long after '93? (I bought it the midnight it came out, but I only remember that it was cold)

I cannot recall when everything came out, but I remember the summer of 90 because I was working at Cedar Point and one of the girls I knew had me listen to "this great new band." She was shocked that I had heard it before. I think the early stuff I heard was a really rough tape. It was definitely not the finished product as the quality did not compare.

Man, now I really need to try and convince my wife to get tickets for the show. I'll be the oldest guy there.

Pretty Hate Machine was released in 1989. NIN is awesome- I've seen them 3 or 4 times, starting with the first Lollapalooza tour in '91, and each is better than the last.

It's hard to believe, given how big NIN is now, but they played the Newport at OSU in 1988.
