Golden Knights welcome Kraken to NHL with epic pre-game show

Before a goal was scored, or a hit was made, or the puck was dropped even, the Seattle Kraken's NHL debut was a spectacle -- thanks to the Vegas Golden Knights' on-ice production team.

Lights flickered in the crowd, a rousing musical score kicked in and a virtual, giant rink-sized Kraken broke through the ice, only to be confronted and slain by a Golden Knight.

It was a pre-game show the likes of which only Vegas could conjure -- and one you won't want to miss.

San Jose Sharks' Evander Kane suspended 21 games for violation of COVID-19 protocols

The NHL has announced that San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane has been suspended for 21 games without pay for using a fake COVID-19 vaccination card. Under the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement, Kane's forfeited pay will go towards the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

More than 95 percent of the league is vaccinated
As the season begins, one of the biggest talking points will be the COVID-19 pandemic. While it isn't mandatory that players get vaccinated, there's a limit on what unvaccinated players are permitted to do throughout the season.

These are the basic COVID-19 protocols that unvaccinated players must adhere to this season:
  • Players who aren't vaccinated will only be able to go to their team hotel, practice facility and arena while being unable to use areas such as bars, restaurants, gyms, and pools while on the road
  • Unvaccinated players will also be forbidden from having teammates or visitors in their hotel rooms
  • Teams will be permitted to suspend unvaccinated players who are "unable to participate in club activities," whether due to a positive test for COVID-19 or due to an inability to travel because of government restrictions
  • Unvaccinated players lose one day's pay for each day they miss, though the league will make exceptions for players who don't take a vaccine due to religious or medical reasons
The NHL has estimated that 98 percent of the league is vaccinated. Teams have encouraged their players to get vaccinated and there are certainly stricter guidelines to follow for those that chose not to get the vaccine.

I’ll try to avoid any deep politcal vaccine talk and stick with 1) trying to trick your employer about anything is a bad idea 2) he has some strongheld belief to not get the free, safe vaccine but then cowardly decides to use a fake vaccine card to avoid any discussion/penalty 3) he got caught.

by all known and accused actions (gambling/crazy ex situation), Evander Kane is a GD idiot.

Unfortunately there is a mentality in most major sports that cheating and/or circumventing the rules is OK; or even part of the game. Everyone or team wants an advantage. It's only a problem if you get caught, then the mistake isn't in the cheating; it's the just allowing yourself to get caught. Apparently for at least 1 NHL player this mentality has carried over to fake vaccination cards.

The only major sport I can think of that seems to be immune from this is professional golf. On the PGA tour a golfer will actually turn himself in and ask for a ruling if he thinks he mistakenly violated a rule and/or just access himself a penalty.

Evander Kane is already in debt. He filed for bankruptcy in May. Now he's suspended without pay. There are allegations of him betting on Sharks games (and being a gambling addict in general, hence the debt). He has been accused of assault, trespassing and harassment. And now he has a fake vaccine card.

It's pretty amazing that the guy who desperately needs money faked a vaccine card for a free shot that helps everyone. I personally know 9 folks who have died from COVID. Evander Kane is a total fucking idiot and deserves the shitstorm coming his way. I wish people like him would set up a little commune in the desert and stick to it.

Draisaitl also has 8 points. Those two are the new Crosby/Malkin. Hopefully they stay healthy and their organization gets its shit together. It's remarkable how poor the Oilers have done at putting talent around them.

2 more goals and as assist for McDavid so far tonight. Draisaitl-McDavid-RNH-Hyman power play for the Oilers is just unfair.

I don’t know if it’ll finally translate to the playoffs, but they’re the funnest team in the league to watch right now.

Sabres knock off the defending champs 5-1 (2 empty netters) to advance to 4-1-1. I’ve watched each of their games, or at least big chunks of them, and though they aren’t particularly talented, they play hard and are going to be a tough out for anyone this year. Don Granato is a helluva coach.

and that hit on Cozens from Stamkos needs to be looked at. That was some cheap, dirty shit. Fuck Tampa Bay.
