Preds spent practically the entire 3rd period in their D zone last night (Canucks with 37 shot attempts in the 3rd period, 84 for the game) but managed to hold on for a 4-1 victory. Of the 84 attempts only 18 got through. Preds blocked 32 shots. Unbelievable to spend so much time in the D zone and still win by multiple goals. Columbus native Kiefer Sherwood with an empty netter to ice it.
Back home in Smashville Friday night. Can't wait for that party (look for me in section 106).
GO PREDS!

Some thoughts from the Garden last night:

- Great energy and environment. Of the "big 4" pro sport leagues in North America, I think hockey live comes closest to replicating the vibe and fan passion that I love (loved?) so much about college football.

- Pretty crazy that Ovi's error on a power play, giving the puck away in front of his net, led to a short handed goal that ultimately was the difference maker in a well-played game.

- Pretty competitive game in many ways, but it does seem that the Rangers are clearly the better team (at least at home). 2 of Washington's goals were on power plays, and 2 were the result of a poorly timed Rangers line change (first goal left the NYR defensive zone open for a Capitals goal, and one of the power plays they scored on was the result of a too many men on the ice penalty due to a sloppy line change).

-Rangers looked sharp overall, with their main weaknesses being line changes and a pretty poor ability to clear the puck from the zone when WSH pulled their goalie in the last 2-3 min of the game. Despite the Rangers not clearing the puck, it didn't feel like the Capitals were a truly serious threat to score even though they were dominating and the Rangers were kind of bumbling a bit trying to hold them off.

Live hockey is the best.

My list of big game sporting events attended is fortunately long (humble brag), but I’ve yet to add a playoff hockey game.

Thanks, Jackets.

It's absolutely unbelievable! Went to games 3 & 4 of the Tampa sweep and the arena exploding when Panarin put in the empty net goal at the end of game 4 is way tf up there on my list of live sports moment. And that's for a first round series! I can't even imagine a Stanley Cup final game.
