I think Ohio State might have a good shot at surpassing Tennessee and Florida State in the number of NFL draft picks over the past 10 years. Particularly after Youboty and Whitner announced. Its still difficult to project 2006 Draft obviously but Ohio State has the potential of .....

Santonio Holmes
Ashton Youboty
Bobby Carpenter
Donte Whitner
Nick Mangold
Nate Salley
Rob Sims
Mike Kudla- ?
Tyler Everett- ??
Anthony Schlegel- ??

I was pleasantly surprised to see Huston listed as the #2 K on one mock draft. I suppose his consistent kicking and incredible KO leg helps in that department.

Quite a rebound from the down 04 draft year.

yeah I wondered the same thing. My only guess was that they didn't want to allow any sort of momentum from a big return... since they knew ND didn't stand a chance otherwise

No, Accuracy and Leg Strength never hurt.:wink2:

That being said, I'd say he's a coin toss. If he doesnt' get drafted, he's going to haev the phone ringing off the hook to get signed. Kudla and Schlegel get drafted without much problem I think. I imaging Everett will get a UFA deal too, if just to fill out a camp roster...

Once again I implore the Browns to pick up any OSU player that is good and doesn't get drafted (i.e Everett). Browns fans love Buckeyes. I think Everett would make a good backup safety/ST's player in the NFL.

I didn't understand not kicking it full strength considering how many he put it out of the end zone this year.

I never heard an explanation and didn't know if anyone here did.

I'm not saying this is the reason... but I've noticed that 3 or 4 times a season Tress does soemthing wierd like that... He used to have Nuge kick those weired floaters to the 20 once in a while as we... my only thought is that they have ID'd guys on film that they think will either have trouble fielding the ball (a muff or no return) or guys they know will just take a fair catch-- in the case fo the high kicks--. Just a little wrinkle to try to force a mistake, I think.

I would similarly like to implore the Browns to pick up as many OSU players as possible, though none in the first round.

I want to see my Buckeyes have long and productive NFL careers, which means not ever appearing on the covers of Madden or SI, on the label of a can of Chunky Soup, or ever being introduced with the phrase, "With their 1st pick of the 20xx draft, the Cleveland Browns select ..."

The 'Skins sure could use a new kicker, especially for kickoffs.

The Browns don't need one, but I would still like to see them get Huston as the kicker of the future. IMHO Huston isn't going to be ready to be a full time NFL kicker next year. It's going to take him a year or 2 to get used to the NFL ball. Of course Nuge was the best college kicker that I have ever seen and it still took him at least half the season to get used to the NFL. I think Huston could do kickoffs right away and take over FG's after he gets his feet wet. I think the fact that Huston only kicked for 1 year in college will drop him below some other kickers who might not be as good, but had longer college careers.
