Javon Walker is said to be a "no-show" at Green Bay Packer off season work-outs. He has told some reporters that he would rather retire than spend another season in Green Bay. He has also supposedly hired a realtor to put his home on the market and his parents are said to be coming to help empy his belongings from the house soon.
Green Bay has repeatedly said they will not trade Walker.

Seattle signs Vikes WR Nate Burleson to a 7 year 49 million $ offer sheet. If MN chooses not to match, then they would recieve a 3rd round draft pick as compensation.

How about these career stats for Burleson.
127 catches for 1789 yards. 12 tds in 3 full seasons.
Two years playing opposite the best reciever in football.
He also had a whopping 1 td last year.
And they are going to make the smart decision of locking him up for 7 years.
That is waht we call a huge risk. Why not just try and draft a receiver, would be a lot less money.

Actually, as finacial terms are starting to leak out it looks as though the deal for Burleson is essentially a 4 year deal with about 5-1/2 Million in guarenteed $$.
One writer reports that there are a couple of "hilarious / ludicrous" clauses in the contract that would not only escalate the contract to, but even guarentee the entire $49 mil., which is meant to be a back-handed slap directed at the Vikings for a similar contract they used to lure OG Steve Hutchinson from them.
"I'll give you another 43-1/2 million dollars if you score as many TDs as last years top 10 scoring leaders combine." ? I don't know what they are...just strikes me as really funny though..."You have 0.00% chance of ever seeing this money, but on paper you'll be 'the man'!"
And his agent is probably paid a % of potential value rather than actual value.

Word is that one of the clauses in the Seahawk's offer to Burleson to reach some of the huge incentives would be playing a certain # of games in the state of MN...meaning it's virtually impossible to reach by playing for Seatle, and also making it nearly impossible for the Vikings to match or they'd have to pay the huge $$ (since they do play in the state of MN)...classic, genius, and down right funny (unless you're a Vikings fan I guess)

If this is true. I think the league needs to make some rules to prevent teams from playing contract games like that.

I agree...it seems like juvenile, school-yard, one-upsmanship between billionaires. (which is why I find it even more humorous).
But it's being reported that this contract was written in a way that almost mirrors the $ amounts and types of clauses (what they termed "poison pill" clauses) that the Vikings used to thwart Seattle's ability to match an offer they made to Steve Hutchinson...what goes around...
I'm sure the league has plans to shut down these types of deal real soon.

On a different note...WR Eric Moulds (who was given permission to seek a trade) has reached an agreement in principle with the Texans on a restructured contract. Now it's to be seen if the Texans can work out a trade with the Bills. If not, the other team that seems very interested in Moulds is the Eagles. It is thought that a trade will be made with one of those two teams in the next couple of days.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Titans told quarterback Steve McNair they don't want him working out in their building, a move that signals his 11-year tenure with the team may be nearing an end.
McNair was told to go home Monday when he showed up at the team's headquarters for the start of the third week in the Titans' offseason conditioning program. The team's general counsel had called the quarterback's agent, Bus Cook, earlier Monday and informed him McNair would be told to leave.
McNair, the NFL's 2003 co-MVP, is due $9 million in salary in 2006. But his salary cap number is $23.46 million
, and the Titans may not want to risk the liability if McNair is hurt on their property.
The Titans did not immediately comment Tuesday. General manager Floyd Reese and coach Jeff Fisher were in Los Angeles following a private workout of Southern California quarterback Matt Leinart.
Cook did not immediately return telephone messages left by The Associated Press on Tuesday. But he said Monday night that he's not sure McNair would want to go back now that he's been thrown out.
"A month ago they say he needs to be there to get familiar with the young guys, and now they tell him to get out? I have never seen anything like that in my life," Cook told The Tennessean newspaper.
"They can sugarcoat it any way they want to, but when you throw your starting quarterback off the property, an MVP, Pro Bowl guy who led them to the Super Bowl and one of the greatest players in the history of the team ..."
The Titans hold the No. 3 pick overall in the draft, the same spot at which they took McNair in 1995. They have been studying top quarterback prospects Leinart, Vince Young of Texas and Jay Cutler of Vanderbilt in recent weeks.
