Wow. Favre has already said that if Sherman goes, he won't come back.

I think they've been making shitty personnel decisions for the last two years or so. They've let a lot of key guys go, and haven't adequately re-filled the positions. I'm not sure how involved Sherman was with this, but some blame should go to the Gen. Mgr.

Ferentz might not be a bad choice....

Press conference... apparently they were leaning the other way until 3 days ago or so. This makes me wonder if Favre had already decided to go. I really thought Sherman would be on board as long as Favre was.

I think that may be it... this may be the sign that Favre is in fact retiring :(

I know Favre supported Sherman but the guy just didn't draft well. A big mistake was made when they made him the GM as well as HC. They wouldn't give it to Holgrem but they gave it to Sherman... I never understood that.

Thanks for your service, Mike. Best of Luck.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I must say though, Joe Vitt did a hell of a job in his absence.

I would love to see him get a shot at retaining the job but doubt that will happen.

Still don't know if Brett's done yet, I can't see him leave without a suitable back-up!:shake:

I agree with you LoKY, I don't really mind Sherman going, just don't let it be with Brett with him.....

Nice read coastal... I like Ted Thompson and think he's going to be good for Green Bay

I also read something today that said quoted Ron Wolf as saying that Favre had the equivalent of an NFL Europe team around him this year. If anyone knows NFL talent it's Wolf. I hope Favre will come back for another shot with a healthy team.

Black Monday Continues....

Haslett fired after trying year with Saints

The Turk has taken another coach.

FOXSports.com has learned that the New Orleans Saints this morning fired head coach Jim Haslett. Haslett was informed of GM Mickey Loomis' decision this morning and then Loomis met with owner Tom Benson shortly after to finalize the details.
Haslett will now become a hot candidate in places like Buffalo, St. Louis and possibly in New York if Herm Edwards bolts for the Chiefs.

Loomis will begin interviewing candidates immediately.

About a month ago the Saints job looked like a bad one but now that the team is heading back to the Big Easy, the opening has been pumped up quite a bit as next year they could end up being the feel-good story in the NFL. The Saints also come with some good personnel and now they have the No. 2 pick in the draft, which could bring USC stud Matt Leinart.

The Saints are expected to announce the move later today.

Haslett is considered a solid coach but this year, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the conditions were too difficult to overcome. Haslett, however, did a solid job in keeping the team together in the face of such adversity.
