IRVING, Texas -- In the days before their playoff game with the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants were leery of raising the ire of their highly favored opponents. But they could not help but point out the perceived discrepancy in talent between the teams. The Cowboys had 12 players named to the Pro Bowl. The Giants had one.
Facing a big-name, big-play offense standing 22 yards from the go-ahead touchdown, the underdog Giants controlled their playoff fate. And when R.W. McQuarters intercepted Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo's fourth-down pass in the end zone with nine seconds remaining, the Giants showed that the Cowboys might have better players, but New York yesterday had a better team.
